| brass ?
My son is wanting a brass cage in his truck.I have got the brazing brakeline down pat now with silver solder and mapp gas.Newbie to brass. Anyway can someone steer me in the right direction as far as what solder,flux and heat source please? Thx in advance. |

brass should be easier than the brake line with the same stuff. You might even get away with less silver content solder. Standard plumbing solder sticks to brass with cheap paste flux.

I use regular 60/40 solder. Any little torch will work. I actually use a solder iron, not the pen type. I use square tube to insert the round tube into at the base (where you connect to truck). Use little coils inside of tube and a tubing bender to make clean bends. Get extra coils cause they kink easily. Strength of welds is not great, you can insert smaller tube or brass wire into drilled holes at junctions to add strength. You can paint with metalized and then paint whatever color you want.
