Not sure how many people will see this here, but I think it’s the best place to post. My grandfather raced off-road desert trucks professionally for the better part of 28 years. From the 60’s to the 90’s. He was told he would never be inducted to the Hall of Fame because he wasn’t a driver, he was a co-driver. Well today July 15th 2022 Jim Fricker has become the first co-driver to be inducted into the off-road motorsports hall of fame. It’s bitter sweet, because my grandpa Jim’s dementia has killed his short term memory, so he won’t be able to enjoy it like he deserves. But that doesn’t change how damn proud I am. Oh, man... Congratulations to Jim! And to you too, Fricker08. Can't imagine how proud you must be of his accomplishment. Definitely "awesome"! BTW- Another "awesome" is that he's right smack dab in the middle there lol! |

Congratulations to your Grandfather. Well deserved recognition going into the history books. Bless his heart, he will know. If it wasn't for him and all the other crazy off road racers from back in the day we wouldn't have it so good today. Glad you posted this Fricker08 definitely a proud moment!

If those trucks could talk! That Old Dodge took a heck of a ride. Too bad there wasn't Go Pro cameras in the cab back then. Lol! Do you race? I see Chad Hall and crew in Parker at the Blue Water Casino Races. Thank Your Dad for me. I lived in Nebraska back then so all of my off road information came from the magazines. Four Wheeler and Petersons Off Road and Wide World Of Sports would show some Baja 1000 action too. Those were the days! |

Yea no kidding! I do know that after the dodge landed my grandfather told rod hall to slow the f**k down or he was getting out haha. And the first picture with the bronco and trailer, they banned pulling a trailer during a race after that day. I do not, unfortunately. We live in a time where it takes a lot of money to race professionally and I’ve even seen some wealthy guys fall doing it. I did race with some guys in my late high school years and had a blast. Then ‘08 hit. The Halls have been very fortunate to still continue the legacy. Unfortunately Rod passed away not too terribly long ago. And he was the one that kept my grandfather out of the Hall of Fame for so long. He never felt my grandpa deserved it because he was “just a co-driver” I was lucky to hear some stories from back in the day though, but I was only 3 when my grandpa retired from being a mechanic and racing. I do enjoy the off-road lifestyle though and if I ever get a chance to go racing I’ll be all over it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk | |
