The regional groups are smaller and usually take a tiny bit more effort to find since you might have to use a few different terms to get a local crawler oriented group. Just searching something like SCX10 II is easy and the groups are going to be large. More people + easy to find = more stupidity. The great thing about forums is that the information is usually there forever. All you have to do is a little searching to find what you want. The lazy people of FB would rather just ask the question and have stuff spoon fed to them. A bonus on forums is you can easily see how long someone has been a member, how many posts they have, and what their previous posts are so you can see if that person giving you advice is a noob, seasoned pro, or simply an idiot. Not really as easy to see that on FB. I've seen folks say stupid crap with absolute certainty on FB (There's no such thinggg as too much flexxx bro), but with a little digging you can see that they are new to the group and do not even own any crawlers.

Facebook might just be the WORST thing that's ever happened to this hobby. Or it might be the BEST thing that's ever happened to this hobby. It almost killed this site, it did kill countless other forums that used to be great resources. It creates MASSIVE amounts of disinformation and bad advice. But it's also been instrumental in increasing the exposure of our little niche hobby. I'm always back and forth about how I feel about FB. I think as long as it's used cautiously and in moderation and can be good. But overall, it's garbage and I wouldn't shed a single tear if it went down forever today. |

As someone who has never in my life "done facebook" but is a long-time forum advocate, I have to say that even though FB killed off a lot of forum activity, I know that I can come here and receive sound and valuable info. That's worth it's weight in gold. And when someone does offer up some incorrect or dangerous information, you can bet that it will be scrutinized and laid to rest pretty quickly ( talking tech primarily... not off-topic lol). And hell... it's not just the OG's... There's newer guys on forums that know their stuff too. But at the end of the day ( even if activity is slower) there's a lot of integrity in a community like RCC and that's why I'm here and why I'll stay. The world of farcebook just isn't for a guy like me.

I've got a buddy who just found the wraith with that funky suspension kit from BC. Hes going to order/send for it despite all my efforts to dissuade him, someone on FB told him it was the best. I guess it'll be a change from the 5" shocks hes been using.

I've got a lot of respect for you and for the others here that point the newcomers in the right direction. I don't take lightly the sound advice and recommendations offered here. I try to do the same with things that I'm experienced with but I stay out of other things... trying to do my part in preserving the integrity that exists here. Thanks to all you guys that have that willingness to help out others. It's what it's all about.

The last pic looks like My buddies scx10.II 6x6, and his poison spyder wraith, after I told him to cover up his bullets so they don’t ark out on each other.

IIRC he did that (in the photo) because he didn’t have a battery plug. So that’s two wires touching and wrapped in scotch tape. Beyond a short course system with no drag brake going into a crawler, it’s just dangerous. |

Well, I mean, that bottle of glass cleaner in the pic is empty and has the lid off for easy consumption...

Guy should move to Denmark, alcohol are cheaper than soda here, or at least you can get brand beer 1/2 of what you would pay for a brand soda. There is a reason Danes are so high in happiness surveys, alcohol - weed and anti depressives, and pretty much what ever else that make a brain go numb. And socialist governments that just love to steal peoples money and then throw it around.
