Default RR graffiti of the week

So I've been trying to organize my photos for the last week or so and working for the railroad I come across a lot of great graffiti on railcars. Figured I'd share some of them with you.

** Spray painting railroad equipment is illegal and I don't condone it in any way, shape or form **

Note that the good artists mask off the important railcar info (car numbers, reflectors, build plates etc) so the graffiti will remain for longer.

Graffiti like this I can appreciate, it's art, not some random words or signs just scribbled all over the place.

And this one is my second favorite one EVER. Not too sure how someone can be this talented with cans of spray paint....

It's not your average " can of spray paint"lol ..... I personally use a brand called MONTANA specifically formulated for graffitti ...and we don't use your average krylon or rustoleum can tips ..either we order tips that fan.. tips that make circles ..tips that spray fat lines and tight lines .. Tips that speckle tips that fog ... We use combs and cardboard and rags for desired effects ... Some people just spray stencils ... And while yes graff is " illegal" it is still an art form and a testament to someone's skill and will power ... Hanging upside down by your leg or a belt to get a highway sign or holding a train while it's moving to finish a piece ... Or on a highway bridge ..... The fines alone paired with community service don't stifle the human spirit and the rush .... I agree a lot of it is just words or " scribbling" but not every one is an artist and can control takes time and sometimes you only have seconds before a car goes by ...... I wish more people had talent to offer but it's a culture you have to grow in and establish yourself by " bombing" first to get your name out then " blocking" when you're somebody ... Then comes the art .... Most people are lucky to get to blocking because going over someone else piece as a "toy" or beginner is NOT how you want to start off ..... I'm subscribing to this because I've been into train art since I was a child and I'll try to offer up a few good pieces .... Some of the best "graff" art is out of France and Germany ..... Check it out .....

Found a few really nice " art" pieces to share ... ..... All of these were done with rattle cans ... I've seen portraits of famous musicians and re creations of priceless pieces of art all done with cans ... But the topic is train art so I tried to find only rail yards and rolling stock art ...... I'll keep on the hunt for nice stuff to share

i used to load grain cars at the local co-op over the summers. some neat stuff to be seen and found on traincars. LOTS of pesos and mexican comic books and whatnot from people hitching rides.

Those aren't fair.....it's a lot easier to paint something like that on a stationary wall. Plus the cool thing about rail cars is that people all around the country get to enjoy them
