The last one I owned was an '88 325i. The maintenance was the cost of parts. In the time I owned it, it only needed an alternator, plugs, plug wires, cap, and rotor. All stuff easy for me to swap. I'll own another E30 some day, sorry I can't relate to the newer ones, I can't afford them

I had a buddy with a 98 m3.he owned it for quite a few years and never needed a thing......but oil changes were 80 bucks!!!!!! The shops could have been screwing with him but they all charged him that.seemed like a decently easy oil change too.

Sorry i couldnt be a little more helpful

Oil change supplies alone for me are $99. They want hundreds to do the change. Diesel though. Takes 2 gallons of fancy lube and a big filter. I do changes in between the free ones to reduce the interval by 50%. Yep maintenance is more expensive than other cars...that are less expensive. But you gotta love free, new BMW loaners every time something is being worked on. Having a "third car" when you need it is really nice. As soon as mine is off of warranty I'm dropping a LSD out back so that damn traction control will FO.
