Not as cool as they were when I was a kid but they have their place for me. I remember the awe inspiring visits. Radio shack was the first step on my way to my first Tamiya. Radio shack and Tyco got me hooked long before I knew what was decent. |
Re: Get your project boxes while you can. Bye Bye Radio Shack Wonder what they'll do with the millions of alkaline battery bricks they rarely if ever sold. Or all those resistors that are way out spec. |
Re: Get your project boxes while you can. Bye Bye Radio Shack Or the 7mm leds... I still remember the very first vcr my parents bought...an Optimus from Radio Shack... |

Re: Get your project boxes while you can. Bye Bye Radio Shack Wow. Our Radio Shacks have been moving to smaller stores and the one in the mall just left after Christmas. I bought my last kilo of solder there. I have had it for over a year this time. I think RadioShack was being held up by cell phone sales, actually. They were selling phones outright without contract. |
Re: Get your project boxes while you can. Bye Bye Radio Shack over 1k in RS stores are going to stay around. they will be owned by sprint and they will still sell RS products. |

Re: Get your project boxes while you can. Bye Bye Radio Shack I read an interesting article this morning about this. They essentially alienated the base of customers who were tinkering and tried to become a cell phone store, and alienated the cell phone companies by not only wanting money for selling, but also a monthly fee when the customers paid the bills. I tried to go there a few times, and when they wanted $18.95 for a single watch battery, I ordered a pack of 5 Renata batteries from Amazon for $7 free shipping. |
Re: Get your project boxes while you can. Bye Bye Radio Shack Project Boxes are going to be the new New Bright JKs. |

Re: Get your project boxes while you can. Bye Bye Radio Shack I have two Fry's within an hour of me. I go there often to get things. I got my gf's last camera there. It was marked down in their sale ad to one dollar cheaper than what I found it on Amazon for. Pretty nice |
Re: Get your project boxes while you can. Bye Bye Radio Shack You drove almost/within an hour to save a dollar? But pay tax and gas? |
Re: Get your project boxes while you can. Bye Bye Radio Shack I worked at radio shack all they care about is cell phone sales. |
