I've been reading a lot lately. I'm not a fan of the electronic versions....I still head to the bookstore and wander through the isles to find something that piques my interest. Here are a few that I have read lately: The Last Horror Novel in the History of the World - Brian Allen Carr This is a novella.....just a short book that takes only a few hours to read. It was really good. Violence, Sex, Booze.....and hairy black hands. Attempting Normal - Marc Maron Funny shit. If you like his podcast, you'll LOVE this book! The Dinner - Herman Koch Good murder mystery. The Wild Truth - Carrine McCandless This is a follow up to Into The Wild....a book about the disappearance and death of Chris McCandless who was found in the wilderness of Alaska. This book is written by the guy's sister and has a LOT more info about her brother's family life. It also has a number of pages with cool pictures from their childhood and her brother's life. Gone Girl - Gillian Flynn Good book. I haven't seen the movie, but someone gave me the book so I read it. It was quite suspenseful. This Explains Everything - John Brockman A bunch of scientific explanations from people a lot smarter than I am. The topics cover a WIDE variety. Monster's Chef - Jervey Tarlton A book about an ex-con renowned chef who goes to work for this crazy musician at his "compound" as his personal chef. The musician reminds me of Michael Jackson and his oddities. How Best to Avoid Dying - Owen Egerton Weird dark humor short stories. Good book. The Tao of Willie - Willie Nelson Funny stories about life, weed and good living. My Age Of Anxiety - Scott Stossel A book written by a guy who has REALLY bad anxiety and some of the ways it controls his life. It was an interesting read. Everything I Never Told You - Celeste Ng About the death of a teenage girl and her family finding out about her life and the events that lead up to her death. Really good book! Paddle Your Own Canoe - Nick Offerman Funny....funny....funny. Ron Swanson in written form. and the book I just recently started: All Days are Night - Peter Stamm About a lady and her husband who dies in a car crash. Seems alright so far... Let's hear about some of the stuff you've read that was really good. |

| Re: Books Great book! I have been trying to get my daughter to give it a try but she keeps looking at how thick it is. One of my favorite epic adventure tales from childhood. Reading time is hard to come by lately. The newest stuff I have been into was the "Old Mans War" by John Skalzi. As well as Ghost Brigades and Zoe's Tale. Skalzi has a smooth, flowing style that really kept me reading.. My favorite Science Fiction author would be Leigh Brackett. I herald her greatness any chance I get. Her visions of Mars and Venus are how my mind sees them now. Leigh Brackett - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Eric John Stark from the Skaith series is my hero. The Chronicles of Amber series is awesome epic sci / fantasy. If you like Game of Thrones you would love Roger Zelanzy's Amber series. The Chronicles of Amber - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |

I just started reading "Where the Red Fern Grows". I haven't read it since I was a kid, such a great book! I'm going to start the "Twilight" series pretty soon, I've heard it's awesome! |

I love "Where the Red Fern Grows", great book. I read the Harry Potter series when I decided to take my current job. I had been working for myself and was reading a lot of young reader books that I had never read: The Chronicles of Narnia, His Dark Materials... And figured I could take a couple weeks off before starting so was looking for something to read... and a friends gf had just got the box set. It was actually really good. |
