War Pig's new addition/shop.

This is where I started on the siding between the addition and old house. I was thinking and pre-painted them before nailing them up. My fancy roof scaffolding once again





Got the gutter on the back and some more siding and trim.



This where it got really wet for a week and I moved inside.

These are the first set of stairs I've ever framed. Only one 2x12 was harmed in the making of these stairs.....





I also got started on the basement floor. Decided on commercial vinyl tile in a funky pattern....

Thanks. I figured there was a method in place. I was thinking counters, washer/drier, bed...something in the way of installing low windows....but those things are already in the other wing.

Are those temporary piers to bedrock still in place?

Nice addition Tim .. you've coved all the bases very well. Thanks for posting the photos I've enjoyed seeing your project take shape. You've got space to grow now thats for sure.

Nope, removed and repurposed. The house is sitting on the foundation wall that we poured under it .

What's you plan for the sump? I would consider running 2 pumps for redundancy. I have 2 in my catch basin and one is raised up on a bricks. This way if one can't keep up, the second will kick in. And if one fails, there is still one to pump the water. I would recommend Zoeller as well; they are well made and work great.

Awesome project! My hat is off to you sir. A large task and a beautiful outcome. Looking forward to more pictures as you finish things off and get to utilize all this new space. Great pictures btw, I remember taking pictures of a basement I helped finish and realized it can be very difficult to get the camera to see everything the eyeball does.

Thanks! Glad you've enjoyed it. If I run out of space now, I'm screwed.

Liberty 257 in that sump pit. I'm not worried about multiple pumps, there hasn't been any water in it this winter so far and it was not properly graded away from the house. The Zoeller pumps just drew too many amps for me, that's why I went with the Liberty....thanks though!

So true! Though it can go either way. That is why so many home remodeling type of shows make stuff look so good. It looks good from 20 feet away, but when you stand in the room, you can see it all. But if it is all perfect when standing in the room, pictures can't do it justice. At least that is my opinion.

Not a bad pump, still cast iron and better than what you can usually find at a big box store. I have three gutters that drain into my catch basin, drainage around the foundation, and 2 more French drains in my crawl space from my addition. So my pump runs pretty often and during some real heavy storms, it takes two pumps to keep up at times. I also have big 6" gutters that hold about 1gal of water every linear foot.

Any ways, I really like your pics and everything you have done. A real quality job from the pics. That looks like it could be the safest place to be in the house if a bomb went off.

And another thing. Make sure you have fun with that new RC room. I just finished building our new home about 6 months ago and built my dream "RC Garage". It was so nice to design a room around my hobby instead of trying to make my hobby fit in an area. I have a great wife that supports my addiction and I really did it right. My advice to you is to put some thought into it and make it great.

I bet it is fun to see a project like this from a different part of the country.

I've been building RC's for long enough that I know EXACTLY what I want, small enough that I don't have to move around too much to work but big enough that I'm not cramped.....and a great wife is a amazing gift! It's a gift that I have too.
