Thanks!

So this new walkway is the access for the upstairs bedroom. Had to remove a section of the existing half wall/railing in the upstairs hallway.

So what to do.....need a new railing to keep the kiddos from falling into the living room. This is where my steel fabrication skills come into play.

I started it in June of last year. You are seeing 8 months of work in 3 or 4 days.

The important room, didn't take long to clutter up the benches.

Very cool thread!
I have really enjoyed reading through it for sure.

It's crazy to see a 9' deep hole and nothing but topsoil.
That stuff is worth a fortune in the south.

Air channels in the ceiling so they can spray foam.

Spray foam in all the ceilings. R49 baby!

Blown in fiberglass in the walls. R23

That only means one thing......drywall is next!

Hey thanks, glad you've enjoyed it. It's fun to look back and see how far I've come. We hit a bunch of river rock mixed in at about 6 feet deep and it was rough digging after that, but overall I was pretty lucky. I definitely have a great base for my basement....it ain't settling.

Man what a project and how rewarding it must be. You're doing a great job on the house Tim.

Probably should get one.

This will be my woodworking shop. 17' by approx 28'.

My RC shop is coming together nicely.

Brought my Kennedy cabinets down the other night.

Converted my horizontal bandsaw to an upright.

Slowly getting my cabinets up.

Great looking addition, beats the extra bedroom I use as a shop/man cave.

I like the War Pit name, my wife calls mine the Pig Pen.

Did you get architectural drawings made for the project? It looks too well put together to be drawn out in pencil on a note pad.

Thanks man! My garage is currently my "pit". Hope to be out of there in a few more weeks.

Yes, my neighbors dad has designed houses for 40+ years and I took a bunch of drawings to him that I've been working on for 5 years. He drew me up some plans, then a structural engineer did his thing with them and they were submitted to the county for review. I paid $2000 for the plans, $4000 for the structural and $4000 for the permits, so I was $10,000 into this project before I even started.

Pretty cool project. I like all the pictures showing the constant progress. Looks like a ton of work but will be worth it.
