Default Boom Racing wheels

Copied from my Dingo thread...

I haven't see these mentioned around here yet. They are Boom Racing aluminum beadlocks from AsiaTee's. These particular wheels are called Bar-6B's. Back ring weighs 37g, clamping rig is a whopping 75g and the front ring is 44g, for a total weight of 156g ea. They're hefty. I didn't bother adding any more weight. I also forgot to measure the width.
They come with a cheesy 2mm socket that lasted about a wheel and a half. Luckily each set of two came with one, so being careful, I was able to finish the rest. I'll have to hit up a vendor here for a new tool if I need to take these back apart. I may be able to use a 2.5mm screw as well, but it might be a tight fit.
Fit and finish is excellent, based on my limited exposure to beadlocks (these and a set of RC4WD on my Highlift). The locking comes from the 6 hub screws. The 6 screws around the outside are removable, but serve no other function than to fill a hole.

Those look pretty nice. I was curious about their quality.

I've run into one small issue. I don't know if it's STRC's problem, Axial's problem or Boom Racing's problem though. I'm running STRC universals up front w/stock Axial narrow hexes and the wheel nut bottoms out before the wheel is fully tightened. I put a 4mm washer under the nut to take up the slack.
In the back they're nice and tight against the hex. Stock axle shafts back there.

Exclamation Re: Boom Racing wheels

ok so I bought a set of boom racing high mass wheels and tried to mount my 1.9 super swampers onto them and the bead of the tire is too thick to set into the beadlock.

I do not know what to do? I really want to use the tires soon!!!

Does anyone have any suggestions?????

Thanks,

Can't say I have a solution for you, but that seems to be a trend with those tires as I've seen that comment a number of times.

Combine those with their steel axles and that's a lot of weight down low...

578 grams to be exact.

Have a set of these wheels obviously, and agree they are pretty nice. Paint could be a little crisper, but the overall machining and tolerances are good. Agree the little socket and 2mm screws are somewhat flimsy. Got mine mounted, but it was harder than it needed to be.

Nice! Boomracing makes some nice wheels for sure! I run their Cyclones on my Losi NC and they are great....

I've held Boom Racing 2.2 High Mass wheels. They are so nice. But they are insanely heavy. Too heavy for my liking. But I will own a set of the 1.9's at some point.

Boom has stepped it up a notch with their Krait series of wheels.

Any idea if these Krait wheels will mate up to an SLW style hub?

Looks decent, but they need to cut the wheel weight in half, that is an insane amount of rotating mass. Did you ever measure the width?

Not unusual problem, just use a thick washer up front under the wheel nuts. I've had to do that on SCX10 with some wheel/CVD combos.

Thanks,
Maybe use VP 1.9 inner lock rings or SSD RC blue Proline specific inner lock rings.
