Picked one one of these to replace the missing wheel and tire on my original issue AMT/ERTL Snapfast kit and treat it as a "resto", even though that build is still in fantastic shape otherwise.

Going to put these Big and Little Hellas on the new kit, maybe get rid of the bumpers and front fenders while I'm at it.

Until I dug my 20+ year old build out the other night, I forgot that this kit was the promo model of the concept car, not the production car like the full detail glue kit was!

I figured the Hellas would be "correct" looking for the style, but be different than the T's without going to steelies and wide whites or the more 90's Billet looking options.

I did get to thinking of something too, I think the Prowler was the second American production car to use a front engine---rear transaxle layout, beat by the '61-'63 Pontiac Tempest and followed by the C5-C7 Corvettes, cleverly using the FWD LH-Car 3.5l V-6 and 4 Speed Auto Transaxle connected at opposite ends of the chassis and was able to do so because it was laid out in a north-south position like the original GM TH425 transaxle allowed for. It also was largely aluminum, had an aggressively Front-Mid motor layout (moreso than the Vette), and had a pushrod style front suspension that I'm not sure is used much on new, current production cars that don't cost more that the MSRP and "Dealership Market Adjustment" pricing these cars were going for 20 years ago, even when adjusted for inflation:ror:

And I feel your pain on having no life. I've been working on my resume. It's time for me to make a change. Even I didn't realize how bad it's gotten until my sister mentioned she had checked my Strava the other day and saw just how little time I've spent running and riding the bicycles this year. Those have become my outlet once I sold the moto, and not having that means my job that I've grown to hate, and all the other crap in life, I have no way to get it out of my system. So it just builds and builds. But, I have an escape plan that I'm working on, and it WILL get better. I hope that it does for you too man, have fun in the dirt, I'm jealous. "thumbsup"

See if i remeber how to do this

The WS6 was awesome. After 16 years and 240K I bet it was tough to get rid of. It would have been for me! How did it hold up over that time?

And what model is the Camaro?

she kept the WS6. she was too attached. plus they(4th gen fbodys) are at the bottom of depreciation so there not worth anything right now.
car did great. was still on origonal motor untouched:shock: , did have trans rebuilt a few times. and the usual alternators, power steering pumps etc. has some mild oil leaks, but what 240k motor doesnt.

its a bottom of the line 1LT camaro with the V6, its all her budget allowed. $19.9k. she (and me too!) loves it. has SS spoiler and stripes added aftermarket by dealer.

to tell you how much she loves the WS6 still, it sits in the garage still, and the new camaro sits outside:lmao:

Anyways I figured if I’m building a tow rig or 2, then will be building a trailer rig..... I should probably get a trailer. So I picked this one up from the lhs

As quick as modern 6 cylinder cars are anymore, that should be plenty quick for most any situation she might find herself in. I fi d it kinda funny that the front drive, V6 grocery getters like my 200 can put down 14's in the quarter yet be so sedate that most wouldn't expect them to be able do much more that be a rolling road block.

Re: Pics of your latest purchase

A FWD family car now makes close to 100HP more than the American "muscle" cars of my generation growing up. Those being Camaros, Mustangs, Trans Ams, etc. Hell the new Camry XSE might be in the 13's (ran a 14.3) on a set of drag radials. The V6 Accord is right there with it too. The Mustang GT was the most popular where I was from in the late 80's early 90's, and they were pushing 16sec in the quarter. That's just nuts to me.

Re: Pics of your latest purchase

yeah ironically her new V6 makes more horsepower than her V8 WS6 did
the (4th gen) SS camaros were rated at 320 hp, and the WS6 because of there ram air hoods were listed slightly higher at 325

her V6 now makes 335!
but the torque of course theres a HUGE differnce, both in numbers, and rpm, with the V8 coming out far ahead.
same with the HP, you have to wrap out the V6 to hit peak numbers.

Re: Pics of your latest purchase

I have to wonder if some of that is also to meet EPA minimum MPG numbers. Set the power curve up to where they can baby it to meet MPG numbers, but have performance when you bury your foot in it. Obviously there's no replacement for displacement, but still.

STANG KILLA SS 10-09-2018 03:35 PM

Re: Pics of your latest purchase

na its all physics. small displacement = revs higher and peak hp rpms move up.
the larger the displacement, naturally peak power rpms drop. ie big blocks vs small blocks are a great apples to apples example.

Truly wireless BT earbuds with magnetic charging case for running. Which reminds me, I need to call and ask my ortho if it's OK to run between now and my appointment. Sitting around waiting is driving me crazy.

Picked up a leftover 2017 DR-Z400S. Crawlers may be on a short hold until I can get some goodies thrown on this.

Dual Sport is alive and well! The adventure and dual sport bike scene seems to be huge right now.

Yep. Not sure why though, maybe because it's air cooled? The 650's are nice if your off roading is going to only be dirt roads and easy trails. They're pretty heavy compared to most other dual sports. My buddy had an XR650L when we were younger and it weighed what felt like a ton compared to my little YZ125.
