This was the dog's fault...

We went to buy him food and wound up in the Guitar Center in the same plaza. They had this 2018 USA Firebird marked down to $1099 w/ hardcase. It was a fantastic player and I couldn't pass at that price...

Thankfully, it didn't come to that.

It's funny... I've always thought the Firebird was a neat looking guitar, but I never really was interested in buying one. When I played in the store, it was a nice playing instrument and it had a unique sound because of the mini-humbuckers. This seems to be one of those cases where you just "click" with an instrument. I can't walk by it without picking it up and I feel like a stronger player when I'm playing it. My band is playing Friday and I'm looking forward to gigging with this.

New-to-me 2005 Outback Boobaru. 2.5, 5 speed manual, 125K, recent head gaskets/t-belt/everything else that you do when you pull the heads off.

This will replace the '04 Civic that got totaled last July, driving the 3rd Gen 4runner every day is costing a small fortune in fuel, plus it needs to have some front suspension work done along with an over due t-belt service.

This looked interesting for $40.00 shipped from the USA.
Impression is good looking and solid . Up close still good, spins quite smooth. Took it apart(HA) all screws dinger tight, but gears were greased and output was shimmed. The spur is an 88t48p metal gear drilled and mounted to the slipper eliminator. Yup, no discs! The top shaft is unique, no pins but milled to a d shape to secure gears, couple of spacers and NO end shaft slop.
I loctited all fasteners, and found a 16t pinion to try it out with.

Hang up and Drive

I personally dig the unique shape and a lot of the specs. Came close to getting one a couple years ago. Was a good price used but I passed cause it need more work than I wanted to put into it. Felt fantastic in my hands though. I'd be interested to hear how it does for you at your next gig on Friday.

Give that dog a bone

Love me a Firebird. I had one a few years back and it was my favorite. I sold my guitars when I moved out of Colorado, that one and the midtown custom I had I miss the most. Now I just have a epi LP

Congrats!

Picked a cool full size decal for my 1:1 and a scale decal for my rigs. They are nice quality decals that should up very well to the elements.

Thank you for your kind words. I read and liked most of your comments on this forum if not all.
Yes, it is indeed in very good condition and very well kept by the last owner. This car was imported directly from Japan. it has 2LT diesel turbo engine. The truck maintains almost in stock forms, except the leaf springs and shocks have been upgraded to Australia made leaf springs and gas shocks absorber. It done 200000KM ( 1988 model not quite high mileage though ). So far I am very with the truck.

Thank you

And thank you! Wow... absolutely beautiful. Very envious 3rd gen owner here. Most of them seem to make it into the high mileage club eventually... 242,000mi here! ( or 389,462km)

Did I give you the guitar bug?

I played the 'Bird out on Friday. I had some tuning issues, but that could be due to the strings and that it was really humid that night. I think there is a high fret at the 17th fret, as it was fretting out if I bent the high E really far at that fret. It is still under warranty, so I'll bring it in and have that sorted.

My biggest fear was that this guitar wouldn't be as "loud" as my humbucker guitars, as mini-humbuckers typically have a lower output. However, the mini's on this guitar are pretty hot. Overall, it had a really good sound and used it for 90% of the night. It really shined on songs where I would normally use a Strat. The mini's provide a fatter tone than single-coils without being overly bassy or muddy. It is nicely balanced and I felt no fatigue from a 3-hour night.

lol you must have! I've actually had the Viper for about a month but just last week started getting a feel for the new camera so figured the new axe would make for a cool shoot.

My experience with mini-hums has been mixed but mostly positive dependent mainly on amps and settings. Same with single-coils. Really cool that you're able to get it dialed in to the point of being able to play live performances. Yeah... they are definitely comfortable and not at all too heavy to use for several hours at a time. Glad that you're happy with it.
