Did this 2 weeks ago, but
still haven't heard back from anyone. I'm wondering if my check got lost in the mail because it has not been cashed yet.

I've been paid via check for 25 years. I've paid rent via check for 20 years. Government sends me tax refunds via check.

Its a mandatory procedure in business. Cheques are a legal record for any transaction.

I didn't want to open a PayPal account for one transaction.

I live in a very small town and some of our local bushiness are do not take credit cards, only cash or checks..

I understand having a checking account and using checks for many transactions but to buy a star via snail mail ain't one of those times.

Paypal takes all of 5 minutes to set up and if you intend to participate in the classifieds you'll need to have paypal anyway.

You don't always have to open a Pay-Pal account to pay someone through Pay-Pal with a credit or debit card, some one-time transactions don't require an account.

I haven't written a check in years, last one I think was to my kids school for lunch money before that went digital. I know there are still needs for checks in business or large transactions, but for personal use under $100..

Day to day is cash, on line routed through pay pal or CC. All my bills are paid on line. My work forces direct deposit, I e-file and have that direct deposited.

I never spend more on my debit card than I have cash to back up in my pocket. Computers go down, card readers crap out and cards wear out.

Its hard to go to every house and confiscate physical cash, gold or valuables. Its easy to simply block an electronic account or erase/transfer the numbers representing money.

Not a need to worry when everything is going well. If and when a country collapses due to financial debt, the government first attacks public wealth to survive.
