Silly question time!

I say no, it's a hot dog on a bun. Some say it's meat on bread, just like a sandwich is. A burger on bread isn't either, it's a burger on a bun. You don't say burger sandwich.

I'd go bunwich, but not sandwich.

Sandwich has to be on bread, a bun is a bread product but it's not bread.

Now, if you run out buns and go have substitute a slice of good ole wonder bread, that makes a sandwich. A wiener sandwich..

If they were sandwiches, people would ask if you wanted a hot dog sandwich, and not a hot dog. Not a sandwich.

Sandwich brings to mind two bread slice with stuff in between them and hot dog brings to mind two long buns with a long willy in between.

This is how its branded in a pictorial view and hence the answer is No.

Order up a couple dogs at the local choke and puke, and it's still meat between bread...falls into the sandwich category
