Run gas trucks and see how expensive they are. Actually thats how I got into crawlers, DDM has Axial now.I was there buying an engine and saw they had Axial, my Bomber kit was an impulse buy...

Ok thanks guys. I've decided what I am most likely going to get (unless you guys recommend others). I'm going to get the Holmes Hobbies BLE Pro for my ESC. I really like it because it can be tuned in many ways with the Castle Link, and it also has the ability to be run with not only sensored and sensorless brushless, but also brushed! So, say if the $130.00 motor dies, then while I'm saving up for another, I can drop in one of those RC4WD $10 cheapies. Next, for the motor, I am going to get the Holmes Hobbies Puller Pro Stubby 3300Kv( I was thinking about the standard, but the highest KV option for it is 4500Kv, and I think that's a little too much, and the next option down is 2200Kv, which is too low. Plus, the Stubby will give me a little bit more space.

he offers the Puller Pro standard in 3500KV, but it is out of stock for a couple weeks. That is the motor I wanted, but I'm impatient and bought the Tekin ROC 412 3100KV. The ROC 412 has been awesome!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that is a MMP, without the fan. Supposed to have different software, but I have both and do not see any difference between them..... I'm using it with a 17.5 sensored tekin and I love it on 3s..... No heat issues at all

It may be, but the HH also has an option for brushed. I tired to imagine the MMP without the fan by looking at a pic of it, and it does look pretty similar.

The MMP also runs brushed motors.

Majority of the time ya wanna go HH! Why?...
Most of the esc stuff JRH puts out is from a castle platform! The way to look at it is castle is great but HH is that on steroids catering to the most demanding users "crawlers". I will say the roc series vs puller series is very comparable tho

Yes, but the ROC isn't waterproof. The Puller, however, can be had with the option of waterproof for an extra $10.00 right from Holmes Hobbies. Now, of course there's is millions of ways to waterproof stuff ( yes, I know I'm exaggerating a bit lol), but it's great have something actually come waterproof.

So does the MMP. Brush or brushless.

Look at the 1 cell version. Same thing, solder posts, no fan, no switch, no built in BEC.

I think our esteemed moderator is making a point. Castle has made many variations of the same basic ESC, for various uses.

Holmes has tweaked one of them for crawling, which is why so many here use his version.

I'm using a MMX in my bomber. It fit's fine where the stock esc is located. Waterproof, on the go drag brake adjustment and no need for an additional bec. Using a hitec 7950 servo. It also runs cooler than my mmp.

What Tweak ????

Simple question then, WHAT is the difference ? I'm sitting here looking at all 3 versions.
MMP SCT edition
MMP......
HH BLE -PRO

All program the same, Holmes has a nice display window, features all seem to work the same, all have 213% drag brake...

All run the same???? WTF

The label and price tag are my answers.

^^^ I've read somewhere on this forum that they made some tweaks to have it perform better out of the box for crawling. I've been searching for the post and have not found it yet.

It may have all been a dream..... ;)

But I ain't got all night to search, watching another episode of The Wire and goin' to bed - gotta be up at 4:30AM for work. At least it's not worse than a standard MMP!

It may be simply pre-programmed in a manner that you could do yourself with a standard CC MMP and a Castle Link, honestly can't remember.

BTW - I agree that a Tekin Roc412 or a HH Puller Pro in the right kv rating would be an excellent choice for a Bomber.

HH BLE Trailmaster or CC MMP would both be great ESC choices. Can't really go wrong with any of those combos.

Be sure to give some thought to the kv rating, post what battery size (2S, 3S, 4S) and type of running you plan to do.

You'll get great info here.

People really need to stop recommending the MMP over the MMX. Its not waterproof, It cant handle heavy trucks, It needs a fan ( that is prone to dying )..

Holmes Hobbies BLE, Or MMX, No other ESC's should even be on the table when discussing sensored brushless setups.
