Just saw that. He was an absolute comedic genius. I'll be watching blazing saddles in his honor tonight. |

Well, hell. He was a truly funny guy for sure, grew up watching his movies with my Dad. I wonder if somebody will have to go back and get a shitload of dimes during the funeral procession?

Alzheimer's can suck a big bag of dicks. Lost several relatives to it. I stand a very high chance of getting it myself. I've already decided that if there is no cure when I develop it, I'll put my things in order and remedy it myself. Not putting my kids through it. Not happening. |

I remember watching him in "Silver Streak", "Blazing Saddles" and "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory" when I was a kid. Man, was he creepy in "Willy Wonka".

I read an interview years back with Cleavon Little (sheriff Bart) saying that Slim Pickens refused to nagger or anything remotely racist until he told him that it's a movie making fun of racism and that it's ok. There once was a time when people were allowed to have fun. I can only imagine the protests, looting and general stupidity that would ensue even the announcement that they were going to remake Blazing Saddles. |

No studio today would green light a Blazing Saddles remake, even if Mel Brooks himself wanted to make it.

Charlie and the chocolate factory with the family on sundays as a kid will always be a fond memory for me. he will be missed and live on forever in the memories of those that loved his work.

The "up yours nigger" scene is properly the fun scene in a movie that hit me the hardest first time i saw it. Blazing saddles is CULT I would like to see the promised "Jews in space" but i assume that got changed to spaceballs. |
