Thank God it's not a 6.0! Ok then. Water in fuel will typically give you a shutter and or miss fires. Lack of power with engine still running smooth and no engine light is most likely lack of fuel, fuel pressure or lack of air. I have seen a plastic bag get sucked up off the road causing a restriction in air intake. Caused low power and a lose of fuel mileage. Also gas is allowed to have more contaminants than it did several years ago. I see plugged fuel filters causing problems like yours almost weekly. Even a throttle position sensor can cause power lose, but typically will end up throwing a lean code. Honestly it's hard to diagnose something you can see, hear run and hook a scanner. If you'd just came up my way, I could have checked her out and got you squared away

Could be pinhole in fuel pickup tube inside tank. Could be moisture corrosion related or not.

That makes sense.

[QUOTE=snapon boy;5579278]I had to upgrade my lift pump when I hopped up my 12v. It was starving for fuel.

answer to gas/water weight: I looked up the specific gravities of each, at 60* F:

Water- 0.998

Gasoline- 0.713

Conclusion: water has a higher density, so it would be "heavier". It would go to the bottom of the tank. That would explain a lot. Short of draining the tank, maybe some 'dry gas' type of chemical additive ( as mentioned above) might help a bit.

Beautiful scenery!! One of the few times I'd like to be able to do a multiple "like"
I like the additive idea best!

Ok, Day 41 (I think)
A long day, 398 miles, made it to Tonopah Nevada, and crossed our last time change!

Thought I would start off with is.

I was glad to put this storm behind us, I mean it flat poured!

I tell you what, it is barren in northwest corner of Utah and southwest corner of Nevada. We were traveling HWY 50 and there was times when we didn't pass an oncoming car for 30 minutes or see a ranch for an hour.

"Oh lonely road" the wind was blowing so hard, and mostly cross/head winds. Once driving into a head wind, it was blowing so hard I was having trouble maintaining 60 mph and a 18 wheeler met us and as it passed it cause the Motorhome to kick into passing gear!!!

But all in all it was a great day of traveling, end saw a little wildlife.

Next we saw a sign saying Bighorn Sheep country. So Marcia and I strapped on our hiking boots and started climbing the rocks!!! We got up to around 6500' and stumbled on to these two guys

Come to think of it, I think the motorhome was doing most of the climbing, they crossed the road right in front of us, went up the hill and stopped. It was kind if like ok we will stop for just a couple pictures!

And then, we are out of here!

I think we will make it through Yosemite tomorrow??
Later"thumbsup
Marcia and Ernie

Rhett wants to know when you will be back. it is amazing how you two leave such a profound impression with folks as you travel. I can't imagine how good it makes you feel to have friends from coast to coast. Karma.

Thank you my friend for the kind words! It has been a great trip, and we feel that we have not only formed new friendships, but have extended our family from New Hampshire to Oregon.

OK, Day 44 and still in California visiting with family in Hilmar. This is the town I grew up in.
I think you guys are getting tired of the travel photos so not posting any today.
We will be moving on from here to Natedog's, near Sacramento tomorrow. Marcia and I are really looking forward to the visit!!!
See you tomorrow Nate, and you did ask me to bring the rain with us, right??

So Nate, it rained all night here in Hilmar, do I still need to bring it with me, or are you getting it in Sac?

Sorry DOC, headed back to get you now!!!

Day 44, these are coming from Nevada and into California on HWY 120 and 140 going through the park!

Still in Nevada.

Crossing over the California border, snow on the Sierras.

Some Mono Lake history and the old gold mining town of Bodie. If you are history buffs google them, it is very interesting. We go into Bodie most every time we come through California on 395. But I didn't want to take the motorhome on that rough road, sorry, no pics of it.

You can see the cinder cone on the island and the tufas along the southeast shore.

Ok, climbing up and over the 9300+ pass into the park.

I was amazed at all of the bug kill in the park, they are really primed for a huge fire in the next couple years!!!!

I found this boulder very interesting!

The only pass that was higher than this one was coming over the Rockies, 11380'.

Ok, off to Nateogs in a little while!

More later, thanks for looking.
Marcia and Ernie

I love these road trip threads! I've been on a few myself and would really like to do another one. I've been wanting to go to Bodie since I was a kid, still trying to get to that area as well as Bishop CA. Thanks for sharing your adventures!

We have been to Bodie 4 or 5 times, I just really like the history and how the park has been restored. If you would like to see some Bodie pics I could post up some. You need to quit thinking about it, and make the trip!!!

Total miles driven, fuel burned, best meal, favorite state, souvenirs you brought home and when's the axle production start back up

Thanks for taking us along and I think I can speak for everyone when I say we're glad you made it home safely. Even though the trip is over, I bet this thread will continue for a while

The pictures are amazing. Ive traveled a lot but I was working for Waukesha and we were half awake and not paying attention to the beauty of the country we were passing through. Thanks for taking the time to post what I missed and will have to revisit these places.

So glad you guys made it home safe and sound.

What an adventure! Thank you for sharing it with everyone.

I am curious about the miles driven, and fuel burned. And maybe a top 10 (or 5) location countdown, favorite being #1 of course.
