And the journey continues...
My gf flew into L.A. Christmas day and we spent the week out in the desert camping between Joshua Tree and The Salton Sea. We spent NYE on a beach just north of San Diego.

We went off roading twice, once near The Salton Sea and we drove the Red Canyon trail... which was awesome!
My gf rode the fatbike for half the trail, about 5 miles total.

We found a puppy out in the desert!
I heard him sniffing around our tent at night and assumed it was a coyote but when we got up in the morning, there he was!
We took him to a vet and he had no microchip, called the local police and no one was looking for him so we went ahead and got him all his shots, a micro chip and named him Desi (short for Desierto, Desert in Spanish).
He's totally chill.
I think he's half Boxer and half Beagle... probably about a year old.

On the way back up north I wanted to watch the sunrise over the San Louis Reservoir and took a service road I found that was a dead end... but, there was a trail going up a steep hill so I put it in 4Low and went up.

It was too overcast to see the sunrise but I was still rewarded with an amazing view.

Yeah Mike, I joked that I manifested him!

The past few weeks I've felt ready for another dog and was looking on petfinder.com at Boston Terriers, Bulldog mixes, Boxer mixes...

I've had mostly Boxers and love them but kinda wanted a smaller dog that was more mellow that wasn't tramatized and could play with other dogs without me having to worry about him/her killing another dog (I've had a couple tough cases).

Then this little Boxer Beagle mix literally walked out of the desert and into my life! He is so good, mellow, and very Boxerish

Well, I've been in Chicago for the past 3 months and I'm itching to get back on the road!
I have become a nomad!

I'm going to do it a bit different this time... in 2 weeks I'll head down to South Florida to visit my sister in Boynton Beach (just N of Ft. Lauderdale) for a week or 2. While I'm there, I'm going to look for a short term room to rent and figure I'll spend the spring in S. FL.

Then, head to Albuqurque for a few months... then maybe Boulder, Park City, Sedona, back to San Francisco Bay, up N. to Chico or Humboldt County, and Portland... renting short term rooms in all these places... basically, play it by ear.

I renewed my Chicago garage space so the Benz is all taken car of and the rest of my stuff will be in storage at my mom's in Ohio.

Last night I bought a 2' x 4' Smittybuilt rain gutter mounted roof rack.
(I figure my crawlers can ride on top of the truck since they are all waterproof.)
I almost bought a couple KC HiLite 8" HID Rally lights to mount to it!

Very nice, that's how we got our cats, they just showed up at the right time and filled a void in our lives. Incredible how some people get tired of animals and just dump a pet off where ever and think it will be fine. Very nice of you to take it in and care for it, they make great companions.
