Give 'em a pinkie and they'll let you deal Axial parts through them. Oh, yeah - and get all tatted up. Pay them protection, and don't stray into someone else's territory.

And remember, ONLY buy from them!

While it does sound like bullshit, more so when we live in Australia or the US, and used to the way the west does things, stories I have heard from Chinese engineers we work with, this can and does happen quite a bit

Not saying this is the case here with Axial, but it is not all that far from being likely either

Axial have dropped the ball here, they should have just come out and said "this is why we have no stock" , would have stopped all the stories in their tracks......or most of them any way

So, probably the factory owner ran afoul of the government & got shut down. Any company who has their molds & tooling there when it happens is SOL. If (big IF) the company manages to get their molds & tools back, now has the nightmare task of sourcing a new facility. One that doesn't have it's production schedule booked for the next year or longer.

What surprises me most is that pretty much ALL of the components, kits, and accessories from axial are out of stock. From my knowledge of manufacturing, factories specialize in certain products. A company/location making plastic products isn't really dealing with electronics. I find it hard to believe that everything from axial was coming out of just one location. Something just seems really fishy... then add to the fact Hobbico hasn't even acknowledged a shortage/issue (makes me wonder how deep in crap they really are).

Guess time will tell how this whole thing shakes out.

This is the speculation I've heard. Though I heard Axial managed to get their molds out and are in the process of sourcing new manufacturing.

But this is all speculation with no sources or facts to back it up.

Went back and got more info... So the factory that makes Axial also makes Arrma and HPI. Factory didnt pay its employees, etc. and China shut that ass down. Whether Axial got their stuff out, idk. But Arrma and others are OOS on a lot of parts and wont be back in until May-ish.

If you think its speculation, whatever. It really doesnt matter either way. Simply, parts are a bit scarce at the moment. I need Arrma diff gears and none of the big stores have them...

So...

May not have been HPI. All I heard specifically were Axial and Arrma. I'm invested in the two...

But I trust my source. He knew of Global's (Hobby People) downfall well before they made it public.

I wonder if RC4WD is any how related in product to the closed Chinese Factory? They seem to be out of quite a bit of popular common items.
Hobbico is owned by Great Planes and Great Planes also owns Tower thus why Horizon does not carry Hobbico products. So why is Tower playing dumb on the phone with Axial product? Or is my info from the local Hobby Shop wrong. And YES for the $$$ I feel Axial is over priced. My Wraith is my first close to a crawler purchase and even I could see where a bunch of upgrades are needed.

There is the Chinese new year that every year greatly impacts parts being able to be made or shipped during Jan/Feb/March. Not saying this is Axials issue, but could easily be RC4WD's.

Axial's are back ordered as far as late May. This is not a result of the Chinese New Year. And good companies are proactive and never affected by the Chinese New Year.

i cant tell you how many projects i worked on that had to be expedited or whatever due to the chinese new year. we also had on more than one occasion huge freaking recals on prize items because china makes shit and tries to cut costs in any way possible.

i hated working around china bullshit for supposedly american af brands. every time i presented work i tried to sell the client on not only using american made products and/or printing and always always always the clients picked china because it was cheap.

I wonder how many sales they lost. I for one purchased a Losi instead of waiting.
