Is it ^ fair?
But it is not fair already..corporate thievery is seldom punished, Wall St, Bankers, Trading houses..those cockroaches get away with murder and millions/billions, these fawkers even get bonuses.
If we want to talk about who should go to prison.

Why do you want to be compassionate with this thief, but not with the cop?

The cop murders someone, and gets compassion. Thats a weak argument if I’ve ever seen one. Shouldn’t matter if you the police the law is the law right...

Compassion is weakness. I don't have compassion for those that don't deserve it. She is a thief.

She’s a mother, they should all be treated the way you’d treat your own mother. Whos to say that if She was given a decent wage that she wouldnt have used the money to better her education.

It is not my problem that she's uneducated and has chosen to keep having kids that she can't afford. She is in the poor house because of the decisions she has made.
Maybe they weren’t her decisions, babies have a way of coming along when you don’t expect them. Her best decision was to go to a country that is better equipped to help her with education, give the person a chance to become a contributing member of your country before you write them off.

Our justice system is already inequitable in that you are entitled to as much justice as you can afford.

Now, having said that, a "one size fits all approach" is not the answer. There are differences in every court case. This is why we have jury trials and not a kangaroo court handing down punishment after a show trial. It is what separates us from third world countries. Maybe (likely) the DA over-reached on the charge and the "spineless" jury felt that there was not a compelling argument to convict on what she was charged with. Either that or she had on hell of a legal aid attorney, which I find unlikely.

Seriously? Can you not differentiate between petty theft and murder?
But, why show compassion to someone who doesn’t even recgnize the crime & take responsibility for it? She deserves no compassion. She gets paid crap because she’s here illegally. She put herself* in the situation she lives in. Clearly, living on $60 a day with a kid is a hardship. Yet, she decided to add another mouth.

*Obviously I don’t know the “why” of her having these kids or the circumstances surrounding it.

Hope the beaner gets deported such bullshit. Should have never been here to begin with. If you knowingly break a law just by by coming here there is nothing stoping you from breaking even more of our laws. Kinda like a liar they get away with one lie very easy and common to keep on lying. Fuk these illegals so glade we finally got a president with balls and common sense to actually try to keep them out. Build that wall!

Didn't she turn over the items to the police and confess? That sounds like recognition and responsibility to me.

No, she gets paid crap because she has a crappy job, and probably about the only thing a mother of two can swing. My wife just returned to the working class after a 12 year hiatus. Guess how much she's making? Hint: less than $60/day. It's all she could get in the very thin job market here.

Young people make stupid decisions, that's the natural process of learning. In the grand scheme of things it was a relatively minor stupid decision.

Obviously, and there is no point in arguing whether or not it was a bad decision. At the time of conception, it may have seemed like a perfectly reasonable one. It's not like a dude can promise his woman the world and then bail on her when she gets knocked up. Yeah, that never happens...

You're purposely ignoring the point. One crime shouldn't be forgiven.

You have to be kidding.

1. It's no secret how babies are made. Don't have kids you can't afford.
2. Praising somebody for coming to our country illegal is just ignorant.

You couldn't have read the entire article. If you did you need to reread it. She never apologized. She never showed remorse. I'm not sure how much more the article needs to explain it.

The rest of what you're saying is just dismissing everything she did and excusing her for not taking personal responsibility for her own actions. When did it become acceptable to people like you to not hold people accountable for your own actions?

It wasn't forgiven. The felony conviction will hang over her head for the rest of her life.

I did read it, and I know what the lady said. Maybe it's true, maybe it's not. Since it's not a matter of public record, there is no way to know. She could be telling the absolute truth, or she's just being an overly bitter bitch.

Also, I've hit my limit for WP articles this month. I couldn't read it again if I wanted to.

I'm not dismissing it. She took another persons property and was clearly in the wrong. She voluntarily turned herself and the items in to the police. She spent her day in court and accepted the outcome. There is nothing left to do.

People should be held accountable, but not in a one-size-fits-all fashion. Besides, there are far worse things to worry about. An illegal stealing then returning a few pieces of jewelry and not harming anyone in the process is incredibly low on my list of things to get excited about.

But then, you're really only wound up because it was an illegal that did it. If it were some midwestern welfare sucking trailer trash with 6 kids you wouldn't care less. And you don't, 'cause that shit happens every day.

Goddamn typical liberal. Don't you dare try to make it into a race issue! I hate leeches no matter what color they are. But I guess you can read my mind and you know everything.

That was ****ing low. I can't have a discussion with you if you're going to resort to that bullshit.

It's not a race issue, it's a citizenry issue. Illegal aliens come from places other than Mexico and in colors other than brown.

My point was that for some reason, you latched on to an incredibly minor and frequent event and used it as a soap box. The fact that the jurors took up a collection for her was unusual, but that really doesn't seem to be your pivot point. Maybe I am wrong, but her being an illegal with an anchor baby is what hooked you.

How would/does YOUR country handle a situation like this? Does your government feel it's their responsibility to feed, house, educate and care for illegal immigrants ? I don't know the answer, this is a legitimate question.

Canada take refugees, immigrants all the time, eveytime something gets blown to smitherines we get our share. I think the Mexicans that I’ve worked with were pretty decent characters, one traded me his portable DVD player for my PSPgo for a week so we weren’t bored out of our minds in camp. I’ve even worked along side some cool illegal Americans.

I googled 2016, and in 2016 Canada gave asylum to 46,700 refugees, I don’t know if the numbers are in for 2017, Justin Trudeau hasn’t gotten back at me...

Canada also has quite the merit based immigration policy...so, there’s that. I’m sure the sheep here in the US think it’s bad because President Trump wants it here.

Rosie O'Donnell Offered $2M To GOP Senators To Vote Against Trump Tax Plan And The Internet Can't Handle It

So, do these people(the irate celebrities) not realize how truly idiotic they are or do they just not care?

Openly attempting to bribe Congressmen...

Such an obvious attempt would clearly be a joke. But like a commenter mentioned, if corporations and lobbyists can do it, why can't the general population?

Ya know, I just don’t think, given who authored it, is a joke. I just honestly believe they don’t realize their idiocy.

I saw Kimmel has taken it to a horrid new low. He edited a Roy Moore interview with a child to putting “him” in his underwear. Kimmel gives us these morality speeches on his show, then does this...

They think, as long as it’s in the name of Trump bashing, all’s fair. Even borderline child porn.

I mean, it's not like she's had a life long career as a comedian or something.

It's not that I like her or find her funny, it's that such a painfully obvious and public attempt at bribing a public official can be nothing other than a joke. No one would take her up on her offer anyway, simply because it was painfully obvious and public.

Just saw the clip. Tasteless, yes, child porn...that's a massive stretch.

Yes, she used to be funny. Now? From what I’ve seen of her in clips & such, she’s gone off the deep end, since Trump beat Hillary. That’s why I’m not confident that bribe was really meant as a joke.
