This past Sunday in Santa Clarita, Ca. there was a Paul Walker car show put on by his family. First show ever put on by his family. Had a killer turn out too. Never seen so much money in one place before. 2 Bugatti Veyrons, 1 Bugatti EB110, Bugatti Chiron, Koenigsegg Regera, 2 Koenigsegg drakens, 2 Mclaren, bunch of Ferrari's, Lambo's and Audi R8

But then there are the tuner cars.

I come from a Kustom, Hot Rod and Off road world.
I usually try not to make fun of peoples cars as I see it as at least they are trying and could be doing worse things. But these tuner Fast & Furious guys are a little too easy.

Sorry but the pics are saved from my Instagram story feed as i forgot to save the original pics. But you get the idea.

This is on a newer Camaro.

You are at a Paul Walker charity car show and that's how you spell his name.

edit. Wiki says it was a 1L 3 cylinder. 48-82 HP.
and early Carbed versions were HEMIs (hemispherical head)
Those are Ford Festivas, not Geo Metros. I know, I had one. 4 cylinders.

The Geo Metro/Suzuki Swift and the Daihatsu Charade were price-competitive models, but they all had 3 cylinder engines.

Festiva, not Fiesta....

The Ford Fiesta was a totally different car, originally a German Ford design.

They were not sold in the US at the same time, the US Fiesta was dropped when the Escort first showed up.

Got to ride in a Suzuki Swift Turbo that embarrassed a lot of "Fast" cars of the time. So much fun trying to make a slow car fast then a fast car slow.
These were often used as grass-roots motorsports cars after dropping in 1.6 or 1.8 liter Mazda motors from the 323 and Protege models.

Plenty of room in the engine bay.

I've seen some set up with 175/50 R13 Pirelli P7 or BF Goodrich T/A tires, they look pretty damn entertaining with those and a sporty lowered suspension job.

I drive a Soul, that I love. I wanna see a Soul racer.

I also wish they'd make a Soul body for on road RCs.

AH!

No worries, there was some confusion in the way it all read...

I will say that when I had mine (I called my turquoise model the "Aqua-Festiva") I remember being able to spin the tires on the 1st-to-2nd shift and even get a chirp from 2nd-to-3rd...

These things happen when you have 145SR12 tires!

I wish I still had it - would make a great econo-beater car.

People have done some seriously weird shit to these things:

Mazda made the 121 originally, when they released a new version they sold the mfg rights of the previous generation 121 to Kia and Kia sold them worldwide as the Kia Pride.

Ford then sold the Kia-built, Mazda-designed, 1st-gen 121 in the USA as the Festiva.

Later, the Festiva was redesigned and re-named the Ford Aspire, a slug compared to the Festiva because the new federal side-impact beams and other requirements added a ton of weight.

The Festiva only weighed in at 1800lbs, which is why 63hp was enough to make it a blast to drive.

At the time, neither Mazda nor Kia sold them under their own name in the USA.

It was only recently that Mazda began selling the 121 in the states as the Mazda 2 - although it was then discontinued in 2014.

Later, Mazda made the Scion iA and currently the Yaris iA sedan for Toyota - in 2019 a minor facelift will drop the "iA" portion of the name.

The GLC was the predecessor of the Mazda 323, which was the predecessor of the Protege, which then became the Mazda 3.

(whew!)

Over the years I've owned from new a Mazda 323 hatch, a Ford Festiva, and a Mazda Protege ES sedan (Miata motor w/different cam).

Everyone a great car in its own right...

^ Yup, I been reading about that for awhile now. Good thing I don't deal drugs or rob banks anymore. I do have several of those around my home. Use them alot for controlling different things and getting quick info.

From Travis Pastrana filming of Action Heros 2.
Jumped was practiced a number of times. Travis still cant figure out how it so went wrong.
Driver suffered broken neck among other serious injuries.

I would too if I knew this guy was going to set a world record attempt that big. Problem with recording on the phone is you don't get to experience the actual jump as you're keeping and eye on your phone trying to keep it in frame.
All what we do for that like button.

The good thing is that Travis Pastrana and crew had medical and a life flight helicopter there just in case.

Thats exactly what I ment. Loosing out on real life experiences while trying to get that perfect recording.
