As far as 1o users simultaneously, sure, but their experience will be less than optimal. I work in the industry. Eventually the carrier is going to throttle back "excessive" users to ensure that all their customers get a fair slice of the bandwidth the cell tower can support. After that is when the data caps come in and your account becomes throttled all together regardless of what tower you are using.

You cant rely on service like that, especially if you are working form home. Which is why many of us still rely on home internet providers like the cable companies.

Our typical scenario here at home is needing internet for my wife or I ( one at a time because we don't have internet on our phones... shocking, I know) while the other is generally watching something on tv. Admittedly it's usually myself utilizing both at once as my wife isn't on the computer as much as me and she often isn't watching tv because she comes home from work and wants no bs noise.

But the "Pick 15 channels plus local and we'll knock $35 bucks off your $204 monthly bill" is just crap customer service and a lousy way to treat good customers. They certainly know that they aren't doing us any favors with this offer and it's the only "solution" their giving us... despite that I've been with them probably 30 years at this point.

And it's a hard call for me. We don't really have a favorite few channels or shows that we watch. I like to flip thru a lot of different channels for something interesting or entertaining that might catch my eye and I never know what that's gonna be. Anyway, they know that they got me by the balls if I want some variety in channels. Maybe this latest squeeze is related to tv viewership taking continued hits with everyone now using phones/ social media platforms, I dunno.

But this is now directly cutting into my grocery allotment and that means a reduction in my budget for sausage, brisket, cheese, and bakery treats... and that's just not acceptable.

Then your whole house has WiFi internet, up to 10 devices, and if you want or like movies then YouTube has many free movies or Netflix on internet on your "smart TV?

What would be the cost of a simcard just for internet in your place ?

we call routers that run on cell signals hotspots but they are infact wireless routers i pay 50 a month for a unlimited sim card from page plus

but i also have that on my phone so the router can stay in the house but dosent have to and i still have internet were ever i go

AAA rant:
Called for road service, wife was driving our Chevelle and it died on the road.
Couldn't dispatch anybody while I was on the phone, said a "dispatch specialist" would call me back. Never had that happen before. 45 minutes went by with no call so I called them. No joy, was told they're still trying to find somebody. What? They had no idea who or when, so my neighbor helped me tow it home with my truck and a strap. When I finally got a call back, it was 5 hours after my original call and it was now 11:30 pm. Informed me that they were "still looking for a provider".
This had happened one time before, waited overnight for a tow, but it was my truck dead in the driveway so not an emergency, and I let it go because it was during covid.
Past experiences were vastly different. Never waited over an hour for a tow. One time my wife lost brakes about 4 hours away out of state and they had her back home in 4-1/2 hours. Less time than it took to call me back this time only to inform me they were still not able to help me.
I've been a AAA member for nearly 40 years, don't think I'm renewing next year.

Any suggestions which road service to go with?

BTW, took about 10 min. to find a dead HEI coil on the Chevelle, it will be fixed tomorrow.

That works for you. But I am rural, my cell coverage even at home is decent for voice, data is sluggish and would no way allow me to work from home. If the main tower that covers my home has issues or is over utilized, I wont have much luck going to the next one as the coverage would be worse...

To be fair my Cable internet has been reliable with only a little downtime due to bad storms that caused physical damage to infrastructure

My parents on the other hand have the Mobile Hotspot and they can work remotely. They are not able to get any kind of landline type Internet where they are. For them it works great.

The general rant was how Cable companies abuse their customers. South Park even made a couple episodes about it.

You can be a loyal customer and pay your bill but they dont care. They know you are locked in because they have no competition...

100%

And I'm just tired of everything in today's world of tech/ communication/ entertainment moving along at such a quick pace that if I'm not onboard then I'm simply shit outta luck.

Liked my old phone just fine. Did what I needed it for... calling/ texting and some other cool features. Then AT&T says "Welp... Too bad, we don't support that device anymore. You gotta get with the times and get a new updated phone. And in the process, we need to set you up with a new account, new passwords, connected to google... oh and if you don't want to spend even more on these sleek new phones, then your only options are gonna be these couple of out of date phones that only impoverished third-world children and Russian Alzheimer's patients use.

I'm tired of playing "Catch up to the Jones's" just to have basic communication. And I know it speaks more of me not just going with the flow but damn... I hate that there are very few alternatives for those of us that are trying to keep things simple and not have to jump thru hoops, updating devices, downloading new software, succumbing to "an app for that", etc. Same with cable... Why the hell can't I simply pay a reasonable flat rate fee and then have an affordable a'la carte option? Only reason that plans like this don't exist is so that monopolizing corporations can just make even higher profits. Like they say, "It's a young mans game". Maybe I should just file all this under another reason why it's hell getting old.

From what I understand, AAAs requirements for tow providers (few years before covid) have gotten so strict that a lot of tow stations stopped working with them. Basically there a fewer and fewer AAA authorized tow companies. Couple that with what going on in the work force where no one wants to work, and I can see why there's a long wait.

Our local shop dropped them about six, seven years ago.

ASU Rant...

I have been printing out and updating my degree map ever couple of months or so. Back in June I printed it out, and I was thrilled, seven classes to go, or just under two years (4 classes per year). Now, I knew I would have a prerequisite or two pop in there, but I took that as a given. This week I printed it out, and there were eleven classes on there, I was confused. In the four extra classes I found three additional prerequisites, making a total of 14 classes.

Dumbfounded, I contacted my advisor, asking about the additional classes. She said I was wrong, I did not have 14 classes left, I actually have 18 classes. Normally, I take two classes per semester, but she informed me that four of the classes take the whole semester. At current pace, that puts me out about six years to get my degree. Given two years I already have invested, along with the money for a computer and iPad, I am a little pissed.
With this, I am trying to decide whether or not to ditch college all together, or look for another school. Given how lack-luster (spoken: lousy) their on-line instructors have been, I have been thinking about jumping ship anyways, but this kind of feels like a kick to the nads.

Well, there bright sides and silver linings here. First, I just shift over from contractor to government employee, which means I will be making a good deal more money doing the exact same job.

Second, I have been almost completely out of my hobbies for damn near three years, RC included. I really haven't designed or printed any parts in over two years. I will have free time again.

I had AAA years back when I lived in San Diego the second time. Never really needed their services until I was transferred up to Connecticut for school. I left my lights on and my battery drained, I called for a jump. The woman on the phone had a hell of a time figuring out where I was, even though the US only has one Groton, Connecticut. Finally she asked if I was north of south of Las Angeles. Flabbergasted, I told her I was on the opposite cost. She said, "oh, ok, so are you around Palm Springs?" She was trying to track me down on her atlas (a bit before Google Earth). I told her to follow I-10, she said "ok... how far?" I asked if she found the Arizona boarder, she had, then I told her to follow it to the New Mexico boarder, and thanks to my good recall of geography, we found our way to the eastern seaboard, and eventually to Connecticut.

"Wow" she exclaimed... Then she informed me that AAA did not service anything east of Palm Desert and hung up on me (after about 45 minutes of talking to her). By that time one of my classmates had found me and helped me push-start my car. The next day I dumped AAA for USAA and haven't looked back.

AAA has changed a lot in the past two years. They used to require their tow drivers be assisting you within 30 minutes.

Now they quote at least two hours for arrival. And that's IF they can find an available tow company.

AAA has become pretty woke. Maybe that's what's wrong.

You’re not the only one that feels that way. I’m about to block the dude so all his stuff disappears just like I did with an annoying cat.
