I don't really hunt much anymore. Mainly because I have inlaws that keep me in all the FREE food I want. But, from time to time I do get the old 30-30 and go for a walk.

I hunt deer. Regular rifle and muzzle loader, some times I carry the handguns. If I ever get enough time to dial my bow in, I will be doing that too. I am also a oportunistic hunter. Coyotes, fox, whatever. If it is in season and I think I can eat it, I will try to bag it. FWIW, squirrels are ok and jackrabbits are like eating a car tire. Would love to try fox or coyote, cat, all of 'em. At least once, just to say I have. rash |

If there is a legal season for it then I hunt it. From big game to birds of all kinds, predators, vamints etc. Heck I have even hunted a beer bottle or beer can or two. I am going to try my hand at hunting RC aircraft this summer as I have a few that have been hanging around my house causing trouble. Most of them are of the ParkZone/HobbyZone species. Just trying to decide if I should pull out the 270 or go for the 00 buck in the remington. |

I trodged out in the woods once for hours on end and shot some ***** *** deer. Maybe next time I should take it down with my forehead or a plastic spoon or something. Hunting sucks, I won't be back. |

Bow hunting is my altime favorite hunting. I spend days out in the woods ,during the late summer and early fall, investigating signs of deer etc and watching them. Learning their patterns, learning the most widely used trails, what they perfer to eat and were I can set up a stand etc to harvest my table meat for the following winter. The prehunt gets even better during prerut when bucks are sparing etc. I have spent hours and hours in my stands watching, glassing and taking pictures of deer. I love the quiet noises you hear in the woods. The sound of a squirl 50 or more yards away jumping around in the leaves will wake up your senses, the fait crack of a tree branch that was stepped on by an animal in the distance. Then the adrenalin rush you get when that big completely silent buck sneeks up behind you and walks up and stands directly below your stand. Your heart starts pounding so loud that you think the world can hear it, you start to shake and your breathing gets fast as you look at the mass of antlers on the top of his head and try to measure each tine in your mind and estimate his age and what his weight his. Then you TRY to noc an arrow without being noticed or try to draw back your bow on an animal that has an almost 360 degree field of view and a nose so powerful it can smell your breath more then 100 yards away and ears that can hear the slightest noise you might make from 100 yards away. or how about eyes so keen then can pickup the slightest movement of a bush or something new in the woods from over 100 yards away. So to those that think hunting is not hard at all, well take up archery hunting and try to lure a buck within effective bow range of less then 30 yards. |
