Book Recomendations What are y’all reading? I stick largely to fantasy, sci-fi, and dystopian novels. When I read I like it to be an escape, so I tend to stick to fiction. Most recently I finished Ready Player One. That was an excellent read, given my generation and growing up alongside video games this book really captured my interests. Ended a little abruptly, but perhaps there will be a sequel. Other books I’ve read recently and enjoyed would include the Enders Game series, from the Ender timeline/perspective. I loved all of these. Of course I’ve read Harry Potter, and some of the other young adult stuff that followed like the Hunger Games, Divergent (only the 1st book) and twilight (shh). Also really like the classic “beat” writers. On the Road is an all time favorite, and I’ve enjoyed reading Hunter S Thompson as well. I’ve read some Dan Brown too but found those to get old, Deception Point was my favorite of his. Next I’m considering World War Z or The Bone Clocks, open to suggestions. |
Re: Book Recomendations Check out Armada by Ernest Cline. It has a great Last Starfighter feel to it. Also take a look at Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. I'm reading it right now. |

Re: Book Recomendations I'm currently working my way through Lee Child's "Jack Reacher" books. Someone turned me onto "The Hard Way" a long time ago and I just got back to revisiting this author. I am on book #4: "Running Blind". |

Re: Book Recomendations I read a chunk of David Eddings' stuff way back when until I felt he was really out of fresh ideas. I felt "The Belgariad" was LotR with a sense of humor. Terry Brooks lost me after the second series and I can't remember if I got through it or not. |
Re: Book Recomendations I like John Sandford's books, all of them - humorous yet twisted thrillers. Also, there's an interesting author by the name of Madison Smartt Bell - he's written some great stuff, both fiction and non-fiction - I was blown away by his books on the Haitian slave uprising. Len Deighton books with Bernard Samson as the main character are excellent - Cold War spy novels. If you've never read a Carl Hiaasen book, you really should try one out - side-splittingly funny, all set in Florida and dealing with them crazy Floridians - especially if you enjoyed Hunter S. Thompson! And I of course can't forget John Le Carre, more espionage stories. |

My teachers throughout my schooling wouldn’t believe me if I showed them my shelves. |
Re: Book Recomendations Way back in my retail years, I worked at a couple large bookstores - built up a large collection of books, some signed by my favorite authors from in-store appearances. Then I had an apartment complex fire that ruined them all... So these days, I ask for my favorite authors new releases in hardback as Xmas or birthday gifts, and get the rest on Kindle. Slowly building another collection! |

If you want to try something really weird but embarrassingly entertaining, read Diana Rowland's demon series. |

Re: Book Recomendations I’ve got only a few books, but I don’t like to read, or spell, or use proper grammar. I’ve got the dark tower collection, cause it was a Christmas gift...gifts! A few Anne Rice novels, cause some girl though she could change me. I’ve got Congo, not sure where I picked it up...yard sale maybe. I tried to read the Jenna Jameson autobiography, but I never finished it, it makes me sad! The old man and the sea, cause it was required reading in junior high. I’ve been the recipient of boxes, upon boxes of Marvel Comics, some water damaged, and some in really good condition, all hand me downs from an older cousin that was thinning his collection, due to getting married. |
