Thanks for sharing. Just keep in mind that people that get very early releases and tests of new models and pre-production models are almost always sponsored by the company or they are team drivers. This obviously means that they get paid by way of money or free parts and vehicles. Just something to think about...

Just in time, been looking for a decent priced scx102 and I’ve been eyeing the rgt 86100 rip off at $220. But this is really cool with the body anchassis setup. Think I’ll wait and pick one up as my 1.9.

Just came here to post that! It makes me wonder how that will impact pricing on the Gen7 Pro, or if they'll just discontinue the Gen7 Pro and retain the Gen7 Sport and the Gen8. I can't imagine many people buying a Gen7 Pro now unless they drop the price to $250 or less.

$299 is bold ass pricing and I dare say too high. Axial and Vaterra prices are at all time lows and you can get into those brands for less than $300.

Gen7 Pro was only $20 less, and sold well enough from what I've seen around, and this is a WAY better offering in my opinion. I bet they do well with it. Especially with people who are tired of Jeeps, lol.

Yes, but Axial and Vaterra prices are tanking. Right now Axials are $30 to $50 off and you can get a BND Ascender for $280.

This looks like a good truck and it will sell to a certain group of people, but the price would have to be lowered to sell tons IMO.

So, in Canadian dollars what am I looking at? $600? $700?

GEN 7 Pros can be purchased for around $350 here. If the Gen 8 is the same price then I will likely be adding it to my fleet

Axial and Vaterra aren't what this truck is competing with. This truck offers far more than those trucks. This truck has the TRX4 Sport in its crosshairs. Whether or not this truck is a value at $40 less than the TRX4 is what will determine how well it sells.

That is a very valid point! Forgot it had portals, 2-speed and all that stuff.

It offers a lot for the price. Heck, even just getting cheap beadlock wheels and tires to go with them are worth something.

The problem is, Redcat is competing against brands that have parts universally available everywhere.

It's hard to justify the cost once you factor in perhaps paying for shipping every part you replace or waiting to even getting it in.

It'll be interesting to see how things go. I'm cautiously optimistic about the Gen 8.

It does have portals, but not the 2-speed. That's why it is spec'ed very similarly to the TRX4 Sport and not the standard version.

Parts support for the Gen7 has been very good from Redcat, and also has been very good through other channels mainly because it's all HSP parts. With this Gen8 having unique parts, Redcat will be the ONLY source for those parts unless it ends up being popular enough for the aftermarket to embrace it. That's this truck's biggest negative right now.

Perhaps parts were more available in the US, but in Canada I can really only find them online and they are often not always in stock. Whereas with my other trucks, I have Amazon.ca and several local hobby shops carrying stuff. I really hope things change with the Gen 8.
