Haha yeah the bubble wrap part had me about to give up right away. Once you get by that and the bad cat jokes it’s a pretty good run down.

I think I've seen him before...

I like the rig well enough to buy one...we'll see. I don't have 300 clams burning a hole in my pocket at the moment. I'm afraid to stop in at my LHS that they'll have one sitting there on the shelf. And they always discount like 5-10%. Oohh aaahhh...so tempting. LOL

I wouldn't mind tinkering with a Origin kit either, but that's more like a grand or more to get one rolling. [shrug]
I'll play with my Ascenders some more. Installed a new HH Torquemaster Expert last night and it's pretty awesome!

Instead of insulting the guy, maybe you should try and find a sense of humor.

I laughed. You?

Edit: Okay, I got through it...whew! I won't comment on mr. sbg anymore - the vid is quite good if not a little at a snails pace...after all it is a crawler, right?

Interesting how he found all of the same points to bring out as Harley did. So that's consistent if nothing else.

I do like the scale and detail bits, it surely looks the part. Reminds me of my new SCX Blazer - and if I had to choose between the two I'm not for sure on the Axial, but likely due to just familiarity.

In our parts the comps are very competitive, so I tend to slant to that bent more than the scale aspects. Sure, you can point out, but if you can't crawl or drive and get stuck you DNF. There are lack of strength areas all over that truck that just look ready to break. I'm sure if you trail run it easy you'll be fine, and no hop-ups or brushless or any of that stuff. The first thing that broke on my Blazer were the mirrors. The rocks will tear off those little folders too.
But then, I drive like a 12yo. LOL

I'm looking forward to seeing one crawl in a direct comparison to the old guard. That will be the proof in the pudding.

I like the body and the overall layout, but not really interested in buying one.

Therefore, IMO, it should be brushless ready out of the box.

I wouldn't say the pricing is crazy, but it's also not a bargain. At $40 more I would choose the TRX-4 Sport over this truck everyday even without running this truck. Heck, the TRX-4's drivetrain with mostly metal gears is easily worth the $40 additional cost. Redcat still has a bad reputation that proceeds it. The TRX-4, as we already know, is a tank and it's quickly gaining a huge aftermarket following that the Redcat probably won't ever have.

The Gen 8 is certainly a no buy for me at full price. With a 15% to 20% coupon it is much more attractive to me.

With all that being said, this truck appears to be a solid release. If so, hopefully this puts Redcat on the right path to the mainstream and success. More options are great for us!

I believe OSRC has one on order so I'm anxious to see his in person.
Plastic gears can be durable. The first batch of TRX-4s had some plastic gears in the trans. I dont recall anyone having issues with them. I ran 4S with a 2300kv Roc 412 in mine quite a bit. It would hold a wheelie as long as you dared. Obviously Traxxas and Redcat are two different things so these may not hold up so well.

Excellent. Lexan is very tough. Once you get the paint off you just have to polish what's left. Very ingenious.

I enjoyed the crawling demo segments in this one - near the end...after all the talking. LOL.
Pretty mild crawling, but it looks like it goes pretty well.

They have some awesome looking terrain to crawl on.

BTW, on the fender wells and the mis-matched opening profile radius with the bolt-on flair top profile...
I was noticing the exact same thing on a late model Tundra. Seems it's a style. [shrug]

I just stumbled across the Redcat Racing Thingiverse page which already has about a dozen prints available for different grills, tailgates and some battery trays, thats pretty sweet to offer up for free and so soon, I'm impressed. They also have a bunch of prints for the gen 7 too.

EDIT: heres a screen grab

The more I see of this thing the more I like it. Looks like a really fun tiny truck. I don't need it to be a comp-crawler - I have a couple of those. Trailing and just running a fun truck is enjoyable in itself. I don't run my Axial Blazer hard, in fact added a BT speaker to it and I stream XM satellite to it. Lights, nice wheels, etc. It still crawls great, but it's just a fun runner.

I would likely switch out the esc for a HW1080, and a new receiver, put it on my DX5C radio.

I would want an orange one. God help me when they show up at my LHS.

EDIT: okay...couldn't stand it...stopped by my LHS - Ultimate Hobbies in Orange, where all my other rigs came from...
Me - You get the new RedCat in?
Them - Naw, I doubt we will.
Me - There's a new Gen-8 you know? Supposed to be really good.
Them - Well, that name with the 'cat' in it just really turns people off.
Me - Really?
Them - yeah, we sold a couple of the Gen7's and they were just so much junk.
Me - Oh.

The good news is they still have a couple of SCX10ii RBK's for $189. Hmmm....

I just found out theres an ATV/Motorsports shop that just started to sell Redcat about 5 minutes from my house, I dont think I'll be able to resist for long.

Very cool to see because theres really no hobby shops within 150 miles or so, if I do pick one up it will be to show support for this shop.

I usually get my stuff online but I ordered mine from the local hobby shop about 2 minutes from me, I try to support them when I can. Mine should be here Friday, I got the blue one.
