I' not as well read as some of you and or as intelligent as some but I have enough common sense to filter some of the pros and cons of the issue. I still look at this thread as informational and I'm open minded so please help us understand why the tariffs are good for the economy in a long term basis.

As far as global climate change, I don't think the increased intensity of storms and weather we have endured the last few years in the Midwest and East, and wild fire size and intensities in the west and northwest is a natural phenomenon! If this is just one % change, I'm not looking forward to 3 or 4 % change.

I don't agree with the tariffs. On the surface they look inviting but not so much in the long term. There are many insane imbalances in the current system but that is mostly due to the US being a country of consumers instead of producers as we once were.

The arrogance of man knows no bounds. You just got back from a tour of the country. Did you pay attention to the geology of the landscape you were driving through? Do you honestly think the incredibly violent events that created the mountains, the Grand Canyon etc ceased to exist when humans came along? The worlds stockpile of weapons couldn't replicate the most basic bitch destruction mother nature is capable of unleashing.

Don't think that I'm calling for willy nilly pollution and destruction by any means. I just realize that when mother nature is tired of our annoyance she'll shake us off her back like the ants we are and keep on spinning with nigh a sign of our existence in 100 years.

Point well taken.
We didn't make it there this trip, but traveling through Yellowstone several time and realizing that we are driving in one of the biggest Calderas in the world is a hug eye opener. And a very beautiful one at that. I'm very aware of the power mother nature has and can impose at will. I saw it many time just in my work with the Forest Service, and was probably more aware of that than most on our trip. Most of the geology events you are talking about we could have no control over, but if we are influencing some of these weather catastrophes conditions and we may be able to alter that influence I would be all for it! Having a blind eye to it and saying it isn't true is absured!

Management and blatant mismanagement causes much of the bigger issues. Poor drainage can lead to excessive rainfall causing flooding.

Hippy dippy douchebags screaming about logging leads to veritable tinder boxes of dead fall & standing dead left in place until a spark wanders by. "The friends of the gorge" and their NO answer to proper management led to the big fire on 84 last summer. Amazingly they came through and logged a bunch of it since then. They just got 30 open last week, it's been closed since the fire. They are logging the standing dead and chipping it right now.

Now you're going to tell me that words need to be in a certain order? Craziness!

Poor drainage leads to flooding in the event of excessive precipitation. Katrina would have still been a bad one but the mayor of New Orleans and the governor getting into s pissing match didn't do anyone any good. Terrible mismanagement on that end and building a city below sea level that close to the ocean wasn't the smartest move to start with.

OK, agree.

Especially when government servers that printed my checks at that time were below sea level and a breached levy was sending water their way.

GM is a loser, let it go.
Climate change ? A idea invented by the UN to cause the US to foot the bill for whatever they deem destructive to the world.
That's why we pay for half of the planet's "everything "
The earth has been here 4, 5 million years, and Trump is going to destroy it in his term?
What a bunch of BS.

I don't know what that means.

Oh stop. Words have changed and these days they are weapons and they hurt deeply!

Remember when we were kids and our parents told us to suck it up and that "sticks and stones may break your bones, but words will never hurt you"? Now children and, sadly, adults are getting hurt by words. Humanity is in a downward spiral.

How is GM a loser?

Climate change is true. But I haven't seen enough evidence that agrees it is mostly caused by humans.

Humans or not, this planet won't be around forever.

Hum, I missed the part in here where someone said trump was going to destroy the earth in one term! Can you copy and post it up. I'd like to read what they said.
I believe that the US scientist were the first to start talks on climate change years ago, even before Al Gore.

And thanks for your thoughts.

I don't quite understand the point of using the creation of a mountain as an example that anthropogenic climate change is unlikely?

The creation of mountain takes anywhere from 10-100 million years. AGW has occurred in the last 100 years.

If the point you were trying to make is that the planet, and climate has always changed, sometimes violently, then you would be correct. But the science for AGW doesn't suggest the climate or our planet has never changed previously, we know it has (take the creation of a mountain, as an example). The concern is the rate at which it is changing, not that it hasn't changed at all.

A subtle but important difference....

My point is that passed a few thousand years ago all we have are (highly) educated guesses as to exactly what the weather cycles were.

Meteorologists can't correctly predict the weather for tomorrow yet scientists want you to believe that they know what happened thousands years ago and that they also have the ability to predict what will happen 10 years from now. Riiiiiiiiight...

GTFOOH!

There have been plenty of quotes from Obummer, Shummher, Pelosi, Feinstien etc.

Trying to keep this thread more facts than "he said she said". Its not a debate thread, but more about what is really happening. Do you have examples of what they said about Trump destroying the earth in one term? Didn't think so?

I tried to post the pic here but cant maybe you can see:

https://www.google.com/search?tbm=is...GTXmFKKzpiO7M:

Like a little school girl...

Look up the details of the death of Alexander Litvinenko. His death was so painful he chewed his own lips off. Not to mention ALMOST killing his ex-spy AND innocent daughter in England.

Putin is the personification of EVIL; plain and simple... if nothing else... that is Trump for you.

My lord guys. Let’s compare our main 2016 presidential candidates; Bernie Sanders- socialist, wanted to have free everything (a huge step in communism) which would result in a tax rate that wouldn’t allow anyone to make a living; Hillary Clinton- was for womens rights yet denied that her scumbag husband did anything to those women, was partially responsible for what happened in Benghazi, quite frankly was very racist in a way by stereotyping races; then the best choice- Donald Trump; first of all he is a businessman making him quite the candidate, he is at least not anti gun which pretty much translates to anti constitution, he actually wants secure borders rather than to let more people in to raise taxes and poverty in the US, and lastly he won fair and square so get the hell over it. Besides name one thing he has done worse than the last moron Barack Obama.

LOL whatabout whatabout whatabout Hillary Bernie etc this is all ancient history.

Completely ignoring what is happening NOW.

You - nobody here - can justify his actions AFTER the election can you?

You dont even try- like its irrelevant.

It is relevant.

He is a SHIT ineffectual president so obsessed with ego and he is incapable of admitting when he is wrong.

If I teach my son anything it will be : A REAL MAN accepts when he is in the wrong and apologizes to make amends. Then he does not do it again.

He fails that BASIC smell test. Period.

So Mr. "I value candidates based on how they like my unnecessary gun paranoia" WHO IS COMING FOR YOU EXACTLY?
