Great footage as always but some sort of story to tie it all together would be nice...

On Amazon Prime there's mini series about it.

There is a story. It's called the Gymkhana Files on Amazon Prime.

Re: Gymkhana 10

the coolest parts to me were the cameos.
Petter Solberg's son SLAYING IT at 16 years old?!! BADASS.
and if you know hoonigan, you know who was on the Segway.
Aaron Kaufman AKA "The Bearded Wonder" (who ironically now runs a shop building F series truck stuffs)
Pastrana
Dyrdek
SASQUACH? if i had to guess its BJ Baldwin inside the suit.

the only one missing IMO was Hert from the donut garage.
but overall, awesome.

i will say watching the stunts was... i mean yeah its getting repetitive. i think the coolest thing was the completely backwards entry at like 90 mph in the hoonicorn.

and i think i should make this face every time i am driving my 79 ford ascender...
the only way to happily eat dirt

um have you seen ANY of the previous 9? you don't need a story. just watch a guy SHRED.

Re: Gymkhana 10

Hert was there, he got dusted while filming Block leaving the airport for the farm where Pastrana picked the truck up.

its just cool.. that he can legaly shred on public streets. I literaly would have a field day if I could. think about it.. winding roads in rural areas.. don't gotta ask me twice!

Re: Gymkhana 10

i was disappointed they didnt do a slide with the truck pulling the trailer (was a glimpse of this setup for a split second). i posted in the comments
"hook the truck hand brake to the trailers electronic brake solenoid, put wheels with no tires (like escort) on the trailer, and do skids!"

THAT would have been something different.

hpiguy 12-18-2018 02:17 PM

Re: Gymkhana 10

I'd think the trailer weighs more than that "truck". Might have drug it all over the place. Would be cool to see though.

Re: Gymkhana 10

I don't really notice how dumb the truck sounds until the Hoonicorn is on camera. Yeah, that's a badass little motor but it just sounds wrong coming from the truck. They really need to swap motors between the mustang and the truck.

Re: Gymkhana 10

I think I might have enjoyed the series on Amazon more than the actual Gymkhana.

I do worry that this is a flop in their eyes though, they said if it didnt break the internet then they failed. I cant blame them for expecting a lot but they've raised the bar pretty high making it hard to out do themselves.

Re: Gymkhana 10

Yawn. One guy using the best of multiple takes, bouncing rev limiters, and finding new things to drive donuts around has a finite amount of entertainment value. Which has been exceeded IMO.

Do a fawking hoon car chase. It's not like he doesn't know other drivers.

Re: Gymkhana 10

he got "chased" by petter Solberg's kid around the ice Jacuzzi. does that count?

i didn't see hert or airport... was that like an "after credits" thing?

That is the scene with the junk car spiral and Sasquatches in the SxS, Hert isn't seen on camera, but Block blasts him and his camera with dirt as he's pulling off the pavement after the clunker donut box/SasquatchxSide on a wire and sliding onto the dirt path.

Re: Gymkhana 10

I'm in agreement with others that the truck just sounds like shit. There are V6s out there that don't sound terrible, but this isn't one of them. Then again, the Ford GT sounds like shit too.

Re: Gymkhana 10

keep in mind how much turbos (in exhaust) change(and muffle) the sound of an engine. if youve ever heard a turbo drag car next to a NA or nitrous car, its INSTANTLY noticeable. turbo cars are also typically quieter.

hpiguy 12-20-2018 01:16 PM

Re: Gymkhana 10

Yeah, I'm familiar with turbo cars, and owned a couple. V6 turbos can sound great though, it all depends on the design, and whether they put any effort into that.

Honestly I feel like the best shot was 7:55 with the reverse entry drift and the car coming through the smoke, other then that it was the usual stuff.
