Attention Anyone Who Can Help RCShortcourse

I just tried to log in to post a news story and got a 403 Forbidden error at first and now the page goes to GoDaddy saying that the domain is available. What is going on? It was working an hour ago and now nothing. Please help!

I pray that this gets renewed. There is a lot of good information on there.

If anyone that has the ability to help is reading this please feel free to contact me here or via PM if there is anything I can do to help.

Hey Elmo, im sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I don't think the site will come back.. as you and I have seen there is/ almost no support for the site. like no subscriptions, or hardly any activity.

the site needs more than just ad revenue to really keep its head above water.

you and mike flea were the only two that I can remember being really active over there when I last was on there.

sucks when all the info disappears

it cuts down on motivation and moral.

I didn't renew on my anniversary date, because no one, (mods or otherwise over there) would answer any emails or PM's, so why donate money to a site where the owners don't care.

I just looked, apparently RCLargescale went the same way.

What really sucks is that there were people willing to take on the responsibility. I begged for years to do the work that needed done and my messages fell on deaf ears. What upsets me the most is the loss of good, solid technical data. I wish I could have gotten copies of some of my more technical pieces before that data was lost; there were links to those articles on Pro-line, Associated, Horizon, Tower and Arrma and now those sources are gone too.

I had a few things I posted over there that I tried to find a while back and I couldn’t even log in.

Much like when UltimateRC went down. It does seem unfair to let so much useable knowledge get erased, especially if you contributed to it. I know there were many threads and posts I contributed to that forum which would hold sentimental value, if anything, because they were from my first couple of years in the hobby. I’d like to be able to go back and remember what I was excited about at various times, but now it’s gone.

It's back! Just checked and it is back online! Thank you to whoever pulled the trigger on the renewal.

I couldn't help but laugh earlier today when this site went down and I found that the domain had expired.

I really liked URC, good community and lots of great information. But, unlike the benign neglect that has happened on ShortCourse, Large Scale, and here on RCC, URC's demise was a conscionable decision made by Jang in his transition over to full time Lego builder.

I think instead of letting a community just sit and rot the proprietors should consider passing the torch to someone that is enthusiastic and will take positive measures to build (or rebuild) the community.

I have thought about buying a RCC star again, but just can't come up with a good reason why I would do that (other then to get "I want to be Dave" off my avatar signature). I can't see supporting someone who doesn't appear to be doing any work at all to build the community anymore, other than just keeping the forum open.

JMHO... ;-)

Re: Attention Anyone Who Can Help RCShortcourse

We've got a thread over there called "What Happened?" in which a lot of our questions, suggestions and grievances are posted. It has been the most active post on the site for the last few years but unfortunately has not gotten any attention from anyone who can help. I personally have offered on multiple occasions to take on the responsibility of cleaning up and updating the site, taking on moderating duties, etc. but to no avail. We have been self-moderating for several years now, keeping things in check as they come up and trying to do things to get the word out. I really wish that someone could see that we want to change things up and update the site and either help in doing so or give access so that we can do it ourselves. Sorry for the rant but I am very passionate about our corner of the RC community and just want it to be the best it can be.

Thats the enthusiasm the rc community needs Elmo. Its a hobby we want to keep clean and fun.

If I still raced SC/ still owned any, I would be posting over there.
