Default D-Day Remembrance and no snowflakes!

D-Day has just passed. Our country and the world were saved by a great and humble generation

Our age group may be the last to understand the sacrifices that were made so that we could live in freedom.
God Bless America!

This is a very touching video, actually a piece of film that has been made into a video, this is one that is NOT Photo-shopped, it's real.

Notice in the opening shot of the plane landing on the carrier deck the gunner's position is all shot to hell while the pilot's cockpit ahead of it is undamaged.

Later on, notice the corpsman taking a fingerprint of the deceased gunner, before the film continues, then shows the chaplain saying final prayers, followed by taps, then the sailors push the aircraft and this patriotic airman over the side and watch it sink into the sea.

THIS WAS REAL! This is what 18 year old "kids" were doing in 1944.

No safe spaces, no hurtful unthinkable remarks that they couldn't cope with, just dying for their country so the ungrateful, uninformed snowflakes of today could act like fools decades later.

This 2 minute video is very moving. Worth your while. "What actually made this country great is ordinary guys like this doing extraordinary things."

What an amazing story and video

My father was 44 when I was born - I'm 60
He fought in WWII

In addition to that video, I am recommending this book: LINK

Humbling.

This video should be a graduation requirement for every high school in the country.

Thanks for sharing Nate. I grew up hearing great stories and admiration for these heroes.

I think it's important that this history be kept in our minds, and I'm confounded by those that just dismiss it.

Amen Nate, GOD BLEES AMERICA!!!!!

Thats wats wrong with the world today, theyve turned against or forgotten God. Back in those days, everybody believed in God n lived a christian life. They werent affraid to do wat was right, work for wat they wanted n the new respect. Now days the younger gen wants it all handed to them, they have not one lick of respect, n ill bet not a one of them can tell u one thing about God or the bible. If it wasnt for the men long before us, we wouldnt be a free country.

If theyed turn to God n change theyre ways, this country could be a whole lot better than it is now. Thanks for that post Nate!

My grandfathers brother flew b-24's and 26's in WW2. He was shot down more than once behind enemy lines. Escaped each time with the help of the local resistance. He would not talk about it. As he said, some of those folks are still alive, and more have family still living. He also flew during the Berlin airlift. Much respect ot all of those, THE GREATEST GENERATION. Hank

I watched WW2 in Color over the weekend on Netflix. Absolutely incredible series, and well worth a few hours of your time. I watch it 2x a year or so, on June 6th and on December 7th as a reminder of how and why we have our freedoms. Also to humble myself. The pure guts of those kids who were thrust into war - most as teenagers - amazes and humbles me every time. Greatest generation indeed.

Thanks for the video link Natedog, that was a very touching video.

We spent this past weekend at WW2 day in Reading.... amazing. Lots of planes, military vehicles, and hundreds of WW2 tents and scene recreations. I loved it, I'll be going again next year. it's like walking into history. Several WW2 vets spoke, and a few moved us to tears. It was an amazing time. Took about 1000 pics, here's just a few. When that B29 took off, everyone in a 3 mile radius noticed, wow!!

The only people i ever wanted to meet and shake their hands, other than that it is not a social tradition i embrace.
Sadly they are almost gone now.
