Lost My Best Friend

6:45am today 10/22 our Ralphie the beagle/basset passed in my wife and my arms. He has had CHF for a year and a half caused from a murmer. He was pushing 10 and was the friendliest little dog to all humans and animals alike. He will be greatly missed. In his honor we are heading to the local shelter with a couple of grocery bags of treats I just bought for this "Do Something Special For A Dog Day'

They become such a big part of the family and it is really hard when our little furry kids leave us.

Very sorry to hear of your sad news!!! It is amazing how these furry friends wiggle their way into our hearts. We will think warm cozy thoughts for you two today.

I can relate..our dog at work took ill this morning, twisted stomach. We could not find a place to get emergency surgery in time, and had to be put down
She was such a big lovable goofy thing. What a f@cked up day.

I'm genuinely sorry to hear that Sherbs, I know how heartbreaking it can be.

I lost my best friend Clifford (110lb golden retriever with a big block head and a heart of gold) earlier this year, after 12 years. No illness leading up to it, he just decided it was his time one morning and died in my arms mid afternoon. He too was my "once in a lifetime" dog and it's been hard coping with the loss of someone that's literally been by my side every single day, that's a relationship that has only been shared by 1 other human in my life. Having my share of health issues, he was ALWAYS right next to me, helping me get through the days by giving me physical support no matter how slow I walked, and most often the support of companionship when I'd have otherwise lost my shit. For a dog that almost never barked, its sure been quiet around here without him.

There may never be another Clifford, or Ralphie, or Dargo, or whoever your best friend may be, but the love we share with our animals will surely live on. Even if you end up with a dog named Frank that has a crooked tail and runs into walls while chasing flies!
