I cannot get over it. It's become and obsession of mine.

How can she compare Denmark to Venezuela? It's like comparing USA to North-Korea because they have in common that they both have presidents.

And she's not talking like she wants to inform, but to convince. Who wants to be convinced by a fool? She's asking rhetorical questions and making grimaces. Like, what the hell...

A suitable punishment for her would be to do forced labor in a cupcake cafe, and pay extra high taxes.

Yeah the intelligence of some people or lack thereof never cease to amaze me.
Okay i do say so myself that Denmark are probably a bigger success into socialism than any former or existing communist regime you can thing of, but its not like RED socialism we have here, it is our own little spin on how a society are put together.
And it cant be all that bad, cuz you see in the inner most circle of friends of America, you will find little old Denmark.
Wikipedia say that in Denmark there are no censorship, this is not true i have posts on not least youtube deleted all the time, and it is not rabbinate posts nothing in conflict with youtube rules, still my posts are often deleted.
And i would never talk About America that way, though there are many things i don't understand, but those questions i will keep to myself until i can ask a American face to face so he/she can enlighten me.
I sure as hell are not going to ask FOX news.
You see i have raised myself to be more polite than that. ( in the absence of my parents doing much of that as i had a pretty liberal childhood )

I will say, that to me it seem like many Americans don't know what socialism are, they skip everything and go strait to hardcore communism, and those guys haven't been illegible for elections here since the early 80ties.
I know cuz my father are a commie still, though in our talks he do admit that that venture in other nations have been pretty much one big failure.

What annoys me with the Trish thing is that it's not news. It's storytelling, with emotions and persuasion. Real news should be read out loud, straight and monotonous. News should be boring!! (and hopefully not fake)

I understand the Denmark-thing. A lot of the previous generation were very left wing, but I guess they have partly died out. It's a bit different here in Norway. People are traditionally spoiled. More poverty nowadays, though, and the rich are getting richer.
We can't really complain about taxes in Norway, because we earn more than we should. So it equals out.

I guess Sweden is OK, except they have some weird immigration debates.
Finland is just a crAaAaAzy place.

But one thing is true. If you like big ol' nice American trucks, then the Nordic countries suck. Any heavy car here is too expensive, and you can't go anywhere with it. It's not allowed to touch nature.

Also, most people are poor by choice. That's why I'm glad Trump is trying to eliminate food stamps for 700,000 healthy adults that are lazy and leeching off of the system.

I have close family in Denmark and so have spent a lot of time there(I am through there every year). I think you are correct in saying that the word socialism raises the ire of your average American(many Canadians as well). As an observer, I would say your socialist-democratic system in Denmark has served your country well. It is a really pleasant place to visit. It’s clean and the streets and bridges aren’t people’s homes. That said every year I am there I hear more and more about growing stress on your system from the massive freeloading epidemic. I gather many move there for the free ride. Perhaps it is true? Sadly I can’t read the Danish newspapers so I have to take the word of the Danish people.

The way I see it, the issue with the idea of implementing socialist practices over here is that they don’t exactly play well alongside the idea of the American Dream. I am not sure North America is ready to let that dream die. We like consume in size and in abundance. We like to work hard and keep what we have. At the very least we like to be able to choose where our money goes. As much as I hate to admit it, the average Dane is more together and at ease than the average North American. Sometimes I wonder if this is the benefit of an older, more established culture that has, so far, successfully tackled the pressures of the modern world. Your politics are forward thinking while over here we still debate whether humans are impacting the planet in any detrimental fashion. While dwindling and deteriorating at an alarming rate, we still have an apparent abundance of natural resources. The illusion is powerful.

These are just the thoughts and observations of a Canadian who has spent a lot of time in both DK and USA. I love visiting both countries.

I know people older than myself ( i am 53 ) that have never worked a day in their life, And they lived good, supplementing their welfare with things like sale of drugs.
And yes the Danish welfare system ( mainly ) are like a magnet for 3 world people.
And it is funny they come here not even being able to read or write the language where they come from, and with the Danish system if they took full advantage of it their children could be literally anything.
BUT ! many just let their kids roam the streets,and when they leave school they can barely read or write Danish, and its not like Danish schools are that bad.

I also know that in the old days a lot of Danes went "F" :flipoff: this shithole i am going to America :mrgreen:
And many actually managed to do quite well for them self over there VS being a peasant in the old country.

We Danes might have dealt with basic problems earlier than the US due to that country being so new compared to us, but we have also failed a lot and paid a high price to get to where we are today.
And we also share a lot of current world problems with our American friends and the rest of the worlds, some things we need to face together some we must deal with alone.

Homeless people here are mostly that by choice, at any time they could go to a welfare office and filter back into society.
But of course mental problems and drug use can make that problematic, we also had a few Soldiers fall thru the safety net due to PTSD.

I am having problems here too, cuz there are such a large "American" living inside me that the way Danish society "embrace" me i feel like a insult.
For instance if you loose your job, you enter a control system to make sure you look for a new job,,,,,, which to me are a insult cuz of course you look for a new job,,,, i mean that's normal,,,,,,, in my world at least.
But things like that have been instigated as there are so many freeloaders here, and after all we are only about 4 million or so out of the total 6 million that pay tax to keep the wheels rolling on the Danish model.
And then when American parasites suck billions of DKKr out of our system with some kind of share selling trick it don't make it better, TBH those rats i would like to go " good old Danish" on and split their skulls, and burn their long island mansions to the ground.
