Well when too many live in the canyons and on the mountain tops, it’s gonna happen. The Santa Ana Winds were also nasty back in the 60’s.

We have the same issues here in spring time, as we live in a forest by a swamp

I was camping over the 4 day weekend. Lets just say I cut it short when the wind shifted and covered us in smoke and and ash, power was out, amd helicopters started buzzing us.
We are safe for now but the valley fire in alpine is creeping into jamul which is just south/southeast of us.

Scary stuff.

Stay safe, I know that area. I use to live in El Cajon and Jacumba '84-'87

oh wow. i would love to see what that was like. fast forward 30 years... you would probably be upset. (i live in El Cajon, "Rancho San Diego" right between EC and Jamul)

things are looking better as far as the fire is concerned though. i think its at about 20% contained, maybe more. they freaked out Wednesday because we were supposed to get some 45mph santa ana winds. never happened so they had a huge advantage to knock it down.
some poor couple lost their home in jamul including the ashes of their son they just lost to cancer 3 weeks ago.
they weren't home and their 5 cats were inside.
He was a Navy Chief and lost his shadow box and other memorabilia.
but you know how jamul does. the community is rallying to take care of them. during a news interview a lady stopped in her car off camera and asked if they wanted some breakfast. the couple immediately burst into tears.

fire sucks.

Nay... 2020 sucks.

Thank you. We still never fully unloaded the camper trailer from our trip, so we are still pretty much ready to get out at any time.
And its not just california, its almost the entire west coast.
So yeah... Its pretty bad.
The one closest to us is actually about 60% contained now so that's good.

The fires in Cali, Wash, and Or have really messed up our air in B.C.

Stay safe everyone.
