After viewing the trailer, and seeing some similar scenes from the original, I wonder if it's a re-make of the original, or a continuance of the original

Per Wikipedia: "...it is the first of a planned two-part adaptation of the 1965 novel of the same name by Frank Herbert, which will cover roughly the first half of the book..." So we'll be getting another film to wrap up the book , it's a reboot, and the people behind it are trying to do right by the original book.- and also: "In June 2019, it was announced that Legendary Television will be producing a spin-off television series, Dune: The Sisterhood, for WarnerMedia's streaming service, HBO Max. The series will focus on the Bene Gesserit and serve as a prequel to the film" Not sure if anyone has seen it, but a pretty decent TV mini-series version of Dune also exists - from the Sci-Fi Channel back in 2000. It was done in 3 parts, and was titled "Frank Herbert's Dune". Released on DVD 2001, and an extended director's cut in 2002. William Hurt had a major role. THEN(!), "Frank Herbert's Children of Dune" (a sequel, based on the next 2 books in the series) was released in 3 parts as well in 2003. Starring James McAvoy and Susan Sarandon, among others. |
