I am completely new here and new to the whole forum thing (coming from Reddit, discord, guilded, etc. not fb screw fb) and my first impressions are yeah this site is very dated. And a lot of the main threads were started in like 2006 and 2005. Which is pretty cool that it’s retained that long and the site has been around that long, but I think we could archive that stuff and make a new UI and not have a limit on picture size. Heck we could even keep a “legacy” interface like “old.Reddit.com” has.

If money is an issue, I’d be willing to drop money in the box to make this happen. And I don’t think I’m alone in saying that

The only way the forum is going to continue to survive is by the members supporting the site by doing build threads, replying to each others threads, asking questions etc...Participation is key..

The other side of it, is the financial side... I can tell you now, if it wasnt for the google adds and banners AND the members who chose to support the site this place would be in serious trouble..

With that said, anyone member, at any time can support the site by purchasing a star.

Is there any way members who already have a star can also support the site by donating in another way? I’ve purchased a star since I joined 2.5 years ago and this is my go to for pretty much everything because f**k social media. So I also would donate to keeping this place alive.
I use Tapatalk so I can’t really comment on how “dated” this is because it looks the same as all my other forums.

*edit, I guess I didn’t realize I could become a gold star member. I’ll definitely do that next go around.
But my question still stands

I feel that Rcc should sell some swag, hoodies, hats, t shirts, stickers, banners just member fees and what i think falling add revenues wont cut it, but also something has to be done to update the platform or at least add some sparkle to it, to renew interest and attract newcomers...my 2 pennies...

What needs to be sold is rccrawler.com itself to someone who is interested in actually running the site and not just neglecting the place and bringing in a little bit of extra money from selling stars.

B I N G O

No amount of money will bring change to this place if those in charge do not have the desire to change it. If those who own this place wanted to improve they would have already made a drive to do so. Either themselves or with the help of those who want to help. Change is not coming and it has less to do with money than it does a lack of motivation.

For the moment I'd just be content if someone would hurry up and KILL the below account (seems that it's been hacked for a long time now, no crawler content coming from it in ages)

"ncampos976"

There are about a dozen new freakin' threads in the Newbie General section from it with this title:

Viagra online"Buy viagra online

Please?

Matt from SGB said something the other day on a live stream, that the forum would be obsolete coming up here in a few months or something to that effect....

Part of the problem may be that it’s difficult for newbies to post here, someone needs to approve their posts but I’m not sure if there’s any active moderation for that.

There’s also issues with the email system, and some people may not get a confirmation email to activate their account. The last thing this place needs is obstacles for new members trying to contribute, but that seems to be a thing.

Maybe a few of you can pm Mike and volunteer to be a mod if you’re familiar with the forum software. Cleaning up spam and approving new posts could add some value here.

At the end of the day, I’m just glad to still see some daily posting, and some of the regulars sticking around contributing. Hope it keeps up for some time.

Was he talking about the SBG forum? That place is even slower than here.

I believe he was referring to the "end of life" of the vBulletin version the site is running on. SBG forum was just updated.

It would be a shame if this place got y2k’d into oblivion because of aged software. Fingers crossed that’s not the case.

XenForo is pretty slick and can be modded to be a pimped out version of Vbulletin and everything ports right over nicely.

It would be nice to see an update version, maybe a visual spice up as well. Plus b able to post pics directly from android/ios instead of havin to use a 3rd party host. Merch would definantly help financially. Lookin at bumpin to the gold start wen its time to reup my subscription. We can make RCC great again, just need the right people to wanna help us acheive that goal. If not, pass it on to somebody that does

Theres a lot issues unfortunately, the email system being down is a huge ****ing headache... New members dont get the email to activate their accounts... over the fall/winter/spring I was doing dozens of activation's a day. With the summer now its only a few a week.

Thanks for all your time and effort you put into RCC to keep it alive!

Hopefully changes can be made in the near future to keep RCC as great as it has ever been.

It will be devastating for me and many others if this place ever disappeared!

I too would like to see merch for sale, but for now I'll just keep buying the gold stars to help keep the doors open!

i didnt get a single notification of this thread until mr jeepbruiser's reply... i wish the owners of this site would fix it or sell it to someone who wants to fix it

edit: i made a new post but it never got approved. not complaining of course given the situation but wanted to share that i can attest to things being lost in the cracks. i would want to help out, but i absolutely don't know this UI yet

While it’s nice to have SBG out there as an option. I have always viewed it as a place more geared towards scratch building and ‘true to scale’ builds. While I appreciate all that is happening over there and could perhaps see myself taking the hobby in that direction down the road, it doesn’t feel like the place for me currently. I like big tires and lexan bodies

Based on what WT shared above, it sounds like this platform has a way to be updated. I hope that’s true and becomes realized. I don’t mind the current function of this place. I don’t even miss the ‘like’ button. But yeah, I can appreciate that people do need to be made able to sign up and post with efficiency.

That was an impressive volume of viagra links Thanks for cleaning it up Mike.

Long live RCC!
