Default Amain.com acting weird

I've used to order everything from Amain for a long time, until about a month ago. I live in Norway.

When I placed an order a few days ago, there was suddenly an 'export restriction' on a Traxxas Titan motor, which was not there last time I bought one. There was suddenly an export restriction on RC4WD long offset rod ends, but not on short rod ends. Bent rod ends from rc4wd couldn't be shipped to Norway, but the same type from SSD were okay. Scale traction boards from RC4WD were okay, but not Traxxas traction boards.

This does not make any sense at all. I asked customer service why, and got this reply:

'Austin J.*(AMain Hobbies)
Jul 13, 2021, 12:17 PM PDT

Thanks for reaching out, that means we cannot ship those products to your location. Sorry for the inconvenience.*

Best Regards,
Austin J.
Customer Service Specialist'

Well, thank you, Mr Specialist.
I can see Congress pass some law saying stuff like 'From this day, 32p 13t pinion gears shall not be shipped to Norway, but 14t is still OK... damn.. I'm annoyed!

Did you ever consider the possibility that it's the manufacturers putting these shipment restrictions in place, and NOT Amain? I know, for a fact, that Traxxas has restrictions on a number of parts, where they do not allow ANY 3rd-party retailers to ship them to other countries. Strangely (and, honestly, I have no explanation, more do I understand "why"), they appear to restrict some parts, but not others. It is highly likely that the same holds true for other manufacturers. Again, 'why' the manufacturers would restrict some parts, but not others, I have not the slightest clue.

I had a several-month spell of Amazon giving me the "this item cannot be shipped to your address," despite the items coming from a fulfillment warehouse about 5 miles from my house. I literally had to have several orders shipped to a buddy of mine in Pennsylvania, and having him redirect the box to me.

I just noticed today that Amain can't ship Bittydesign to New Zealand. Which is super random.

I know.
RCmart.com say that very clearly: We cannot ship Traxxas due to blah blah..

But Amain ships some Traxxas parts and some not.
And why would RC4WD allow shipping m3 rod ends, but not m4?

Anyway, in such cases Amain should at least be able to tell me whether certain brands do not ship, so that I can plan my next order.

Yes, I feel you! It's super random and no explanation is given.

I would guess the effort required to comb through the entire catalog of thousands and thousands of parts and make sure a box is checked in the website setting to apply shipping restrictions on certain items hasn’t been made, especially for things that aren’t frequently ordered by international customers.

Yes, I agree. It's still weird, though, that Amain has restrictions on those products, when I can simply buy them from certain other online stores in US and Hong Kong.

Some companies will follow Mnfc Sales Recommendations. Others don't. Nearly no Asian Retail shops or manufacturers will follow international trade laws. Which is why so many parts get knocked off by Chinese Companies. Even our US Military Contractors can't sue China for IP Theft so, there's not much hope for an RC Company.

Amain follows all MNFCR Contract rules. Thus when they are told they can't sell something to people in some countries, it would be because there are international trade laws that affect the manufacturers, that they have to follow themselves. why some will still sell/ship? They are not bound by the same contract stipulations.

I would suspect the reasons some parts/stuff can go, and others cant, is again due to contract stipulations. In this instance, a Contract that was in place when some stuff was offered and a new contract in place where under the new contract, that stuff can/t be shipped.

Whenever things like this go down, you have to consider the reason is almost 100% Attorney Related and Legalally Binding.
