Default How are you guys flying with rc?

I’m going to be going to the port of Wilmington NC and waycross Georgia soon for work with both being a week and a half or so trips. I’d like to bring a crawler with me to pass the time when I’m not working but I don’t know what to do about the lipo.

So my question is how are you guys flying with your rc?

When we moved to Hawaii, we put our stuff in a trailer then shipped the trailer via barge. Well, I didn't want my batteries in a hot trailer in a hot cargo container on a hot boat for three weeks, so I brought mine in my carry on. I also had a few other electronics(all our phones and a laptop) in the same bag so maybe it just didn't read? Idk, but I do know they didn't pull my bag off the conveyor. There isn't any restrictions as long as your under 110Wh iirc.

I looked into all this for a good week or two because I really didn't want to ruin my batteries in a hot trailer.

As far as the truck, I didn't deal with that because I threw it on the barge, but a suitcase with clothes or some sort of protection on all 6 sides(if possible) would be just fine.

Really? I would’ve thought the lipo would have issues with flying.

The truck I’m planning to bring is fairly small anyways, mst cmx with the j3 body so it should easily fit in a suitcase

I’ve wondered the same, I’ve done some reading but haven’t seen any solid info lately. But I’ve read that keeping the thing together helps. Like having the battery mounted in the car. Not sure how much water this holds. I’d think it would be more like a firearm myself where you’d want the battery and car bagged separately. But again I haven’t tried it and haven’t seen any definitive answer. There’s been a few times I’ve wanted to bring rigs with me but only having a carry on and being nervous about it has stopped me

TSA requires lipo’s as carryons only.

Look up the TSA regs. There's an allowable quantity oh Wh (mAh x Volts) and they're usually required to be in carry on.

https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-...or-less-device

https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-...100-watt-hours

WattHours = AmpHours x Voltage so for a 2200mAh 3S:

2.2Ah x 11.1V=24.2Wh
