| Indoor Crawler Course How-To
I have the chance to have a 40sq ft indoor crawler course. The best part. I don't have to pay for it. All I need is some ideas on what would be cool to have. The LHS's old owner died. Well the new owner is a HUGE Crawler fan and wants this pretty bad. Any input would be great. I'll try and get pictures later on how it's coming along. I know Dezfan wants to come down and help out. But right now this is all the info I have. The Hobby Shop is called Battlefield Station and is located in Springfield, Mo... So if you live near by stop in and ask them about it. Make sure they know everyone is interested in getting this set up. It will be great having a plce to go for the Winter comps.

when I was back home I had good luck with a 4x8 piece of plywood, sprayed with expanding foam, then covered in some sort of motor. My neighbor did tuck pointing on old masonry buildings and hooked me up with the motor. I wish i had a pic here. Would be easy to do for one of the obstacles, expanding foam sure is easy to work with and carve into the desired shape. Just a thought for ya. Too bad it is 200 miles from me, but maybe Fastlane will keep theirs up. Josh |

I've liked some of the expanded bridge ideas that were posted up recently. Also contact some of your local Consturction businesses get broken bricks and scrap wood to make shtuff out of. Try and excavation company they may just give you some rocks off work sites. Not sure how permanent you want it. |

definetitely a good idea here... you can probably get large stone for as little as $.03 a pound.. limestone, granite, colorado river and arizona large river are all well priced "boulder" size stone under $.10 a lb. and look good for crawling imo

You need a little mud hole on top of a tarp or something. That would be cool if he would allow it.

I built a frame work out of 2x4 and 1/2 ply and covered it in chicken wire then coated that in glass. Once that was done on went the bedliner material turned out being 3' wide x 10' long. Only thing that sucks is that I have only used it once, dont have room for it and with building a full outdoor course Im ready to get rid of the indoor one.

Run2jeep- That's great news. I used to buy a lot of stuff from them, but have been shopping at Sleeth's lately. The guys "in the back" at Battlefield Station were always intriqued with my crawlers, even took my Maxx Mantis by one day for them to check out. I gave one them a lot of spare parts from my tlt kit, he had built a stock one and thought he had a real crawler. Where are they putting the course, where all the train layout is? Let me know if you need any help. I've got a truck if we need to haul stuff or make a run to the quarry. |

I made a fake rock for indoor use. It's a lot easier to move around than a rock it's size. homemade rock |

I like the idea of having a bridge on it. He want to make it into 4 sections so those 4 blocks and be moved to change the course up. Pictures of sweet gates and ledges that we can copy would be cool. Find a picture of your favorite ledge or spot to crawl. We might copy it and use it.

I am in the same boat. My LHS gave me a 24'x40' area to build a Rock Crawling and Trials Course. Only difference is it is outside so it has to be weatherproof. Check out these pics for ideas... If you want more info PM Digger...this is his setup. |
