A TJ stuck... stuck really bad.

So I ran into a fellow Jeep enthusiast at a gas station and he pointed me to a local 4X4 board. This is the first thread I looked at:

Kinda baffling...

I want the story behind how it got there in the first place.

I imagine something like this happened!

I just love all of the freeloaders asking for parts off of a vehicle that someone else worked hard to recover.

Hell, if you look a few pages in, the guy that blew his winch up getting it out gets wicked pissed about them stripping it down for parts...

At least now we know how it got there :)

Yep, that happened a few years ago. Maybe they shouldnt have tried to drive through a fast moving river...

The Jeep was buried there for about two months!

Most of the real story was posted on www.wheelingadventures.com , but now all my links to it are bad.:-( One guy from Alaska that visited I board I was active on, posted this when it happened:

"Last week 3vehicles went up to the glacier and it was a baby cake trip. On the way out they hit quick mud and a Nissan got stuck. Attempted recoveries failed. Then several guys from the local board set up for a run Thursday to go get the nissan. This is where things go horribly wrong.

The guys assiting in the recovery were crossing a river when they got washed away. No one was hurt first off.

They were able to recover one vehicle it was only buried in the silt up to the axles. But apparently 2 nissans and a TJ were lost in the river and are gone."

Kind of like one of my installers that took his Dad's Suburban without permission and got it stuck at the bottom of a 400 foot straight drop. Going down was easy he said. Decided to turn around and go back up but that wasn't going to happen. If you see our Rovers are at the top right of the pic. It was vandalized literally in hours after he left it. Ended up taking a bulldozer and $2000.00 later just to send it to the junkyard.

A few years ago in Glamis, we were cutting through the dunes on our way to Oldsmobile Hill and found a Crew Cab Ford F-350 Diesel WAY up in the dunes were I thought it would be impossible to get a full size stock vehicle.

It had been set on fire and then whatever hadn't burned was stripped.

I still can't believe they got that truck to the location we found it!
