Default (sigh) cant seem to win...trip is OVER..

It seems like lately I cant catch a break... Last weekend was the NRCTPA spring nationals pulling and monster truck racing. Went, had all my motors die and a servo, fried a tekin rebel etc etc... so I order new parts for this weekends Diggers Dungeon race at Grave Diggers. We packed out the camper as we are staying on grounds with all my powers clod busters, some of the pullers, and crawlers (talk of crawling/pulling next year). So Jeff (mystepdad) and I headed out for a 9 hour drive to NC... 3 hrs into the trip we cruising along...65 mphs, BSing, listening to some tunes when KKKKAAAABOOOOOMMMM. Jeff grabs the wheel and raps the throttle thinking we got a blow out checks the mirrors, truck and 27 ft trailer are tracking straight BUT the truck has NO POWER and the boost gauge has flat lined... so we move to the side of 95 and he gives some juice and no boost at all... so now he had just had the turbo replaced under warranty recently and now it seems like a hose blew off. so we call the dealer by our house and the service manager asks if it sounds like a horrible exhaust leak, and it does...says we probably lost one of the hoses somehow... so jeff calls ford road side, as im crawling under the truck...thinking a'yea i worked for toyota maybe I can fix it...' well I dont see any hose dangling or nothing, checking under the hood I dont see shiat. so we road side is trying to help us locate a dealer...2 nearby ones dont service diesel trucks and the other 2 wont touch it till tuesday so we start looking in the GPS, we find one about 8 miles away...head there and when we get there...its GONE! Now a saturn dealer... so now, we drive another 12 miles to another one...keep in mind, were towing a 27 foot trailer and Jeff didnt want to drive to quick cause we dont know exactly whats wrong, so we got the 4 ways on and ppl are driving liek complete dicks. Not letting us in, cutting us off etc...so we get to this other dealer...we explain whats going on. They say, pop the trailer off we'll look at it..awesome right?????? so we take it off, come back in. A tech is at the desk, he walks out there takes a peak and says "yea , ya lost so and so line, its an easy fix" EXCELLENT right???? so yea... they take the info...truck has a extended warranty that we bought through ford (3Gs) so 100$ deductable is all that we gotta pay. So sign the RO and sit in the waiting room...15 minutes goes by shop gets quiet...techs went on lunch... for an hours...ok...no biggy right???? well now its 3 hours later...truck still hasnt been looked at and were stuck in delaware and still have about 6 hour drive ahead of us...so much for making the qualifying rounds today

Rant off

-Mike

That sucks. I hate when "it's an easy fix and we'll get right on it" turns into an all day affair.

Damn bro that sucks. Is it a ford with the 6.0? Those things are notorious for having the intercooler boot blow off under boost. Weve had a few come into the shop because of this....seems ford had a bad bunch of banjo clamps that would crack and fall off. Same thing happened to my old man coming home from pismo with the 33' weekend warrior climbing the questa grade.

Unhappy

I feel ya, man. I had a brake job on the Ranger turn into an all-day party. I hit the parts store, answer all the questions (2wd or 4wd, ABS on all 4 or just the back, coils or torsion bars?) pick up my parts, go home and tear the front end all apart.

Wrong rotors. Wifey's at work, so I got no other ride. At least the parts store was cool enough to deliver a second set of the wrong rotors (same wrong rotors but with a tone ring), and I could ride back with the driver and drop the old rotor on the counter and get the right one, and hitch a ride home.

Damn brake job took five and a half hours

But at least I was doing something the whole time. It's worse sitting there in a waiting room drinking stale coffee and reading Sports Illustrateds from 2003.

Default Trip is over, my weekend is DONE

well..... the "man" of bad luck topped my shiat luck cake with icing ...

After 7 hours at the dealership of waiting and waiting for them to make the "easy fix" as there tech told me to my face...the service writer tells my stepdad, as he goes up to ask how much longer cause we were starving and were going to maybe take a walk to get a bite to eat..

"your the one with the diesel right"

"yea do you think its gonna get in soon becau..."

"Nope, cant get it in today, if ya want you can leave it?"

"Are you kidding me? you told me you could get to it today? I cant leave it, were on a trip to NC from long island NY"

"Nope, sorry cant do nothing for ya, but if ya want to leave it..."

"Your tech this morning told me it was an "easy fix" those were his exact words, now your telling me you cant even look at it????? why didnt you tell me that 7 hours ago!?"

"I am sorry sir but I have cars with appointments that havent gotten looked at yet. You know...lemme run in the back and see what he says"

10 minutes later...

"Yea...Cant get that diesel in today, you can leave it and we can try to fix it tomorrow, but I dont know if we can even fix it, I dont want to charge you diagnostic time and there is no saying we can even fix it"

" You have got to be kidding me? Whats there to Diagnose???? YOUR TECH said the the tube blew off and i dont care how much costs, I have the premium warranty package "

"I am sorry sir but I just cant do nothing for you"

Got our shiat together... back out to the truck...hook the 27 foot LIGHT camper back up"

go to leave, step on the gas...truck starts pouring black smoke...check engine light finally comes on and we can barely do 20 mph... almost get killed trying to get across the 4 lanes of highway because PEOPLE are inconsiderate fawkin PRICKS and are in such a fawkin rush all the time that they cant even see that a truck pouring black smoke with the hazard lights on its just trying to pull over we finally get over... totally frustrated as its now 5:30 and every repair shop is gone for the day... we decide were goona try to get home, because we dont even know what AAA would do cause we have the trailer too. truck starts to clear up a lil bit...we head off.

5 hours later....45 mph the whole way... lost through the fawkin city and redirected by every cop because we had propane and since 9/11 cant go in ANY tunnels now.. We finally had made it home

No diggers dungeon, no meeting Denis Anderson, NO racing with my Team, No meeting JIA, a broken fawking truck that is NEW, 47k on it, and totally RUINED memorial weekend because the fat FAWKING A$$HOLE at Ford FAWKED US. He sold us a fawkin DREAM when he said it could be fixed. He could have told us he wasnt gonna be able to get it in, we would have had 7 hours to look for another shop.

My weekend is done... waist of time, money, a day off and much more...fawkin joke

im so done...

That blows, I would have socked that guy! I mean it does not need to be on a lift to have a turbo line replaced, I have been there done that, lazy fukers, I would go back there and throw a tire through their front window.

Sorry about your trip! If it makes you feel any better Finishlinerc bought a 1973 Dodge motorhome the night before the Montana scale meet, sight unseen got it back we loaded it up for the trip(we are in Crawlerado)
Drove it up there and back w/out a problem!

damn, sorry man. hopefully another chance like this will come up and you wont have any problems.

my dad has a ford f350 diesel turbo, never had a problem, except we broke the front trac bar or whatever it is mount, the timeing sensor or what ever went out, and weve had to replace the electronic gas pedal a couple times, but other than that its been a great truck and weve had good luck with our dealerships up here, of course most of the time we do our own fixing.

hope you finish the rest of your weekend better than it started.

Write a letter to Ford, to that dealership and as much as I think they are a joke, to their local BBB office.

Explain, especially to Ford, that their dealership knowingly lied to you and kept you from getting proper service and because of their neglect, probably caused you to ruin the vehicle further because you were forced to drive back with it in the condition it was in. Honestly, they should never have even considered letting you continue to drive with your vehicle pouring smoke like that. It is potentially a danger to you and others around you.

I'm with Cloak. Did you talk to the service manager too? Usually we made special arrangements for situations like that for out of towners and tried to do everything we could to get them back up and running. Myself and a couple others would always volunteer to work late (parts permitting)when these situations would arise. I was a Ford tech for 17 years and have heard all kinds of stories like that. It pisses me off to no end when people get treated like crap by a dealership. I wish everyone took pride in their job and had the common courtesy to tell the customer the truth and not B.S. them just to get their business at that moment. It's no wonder the big 3 are suffering. These kind of stories almost always seem to revolve around the big 3 and much less around the Japanese/European auto makers. Sorry to hear that you got the shaft at the dealer. This kind of crap happens way too often and the upper management doesn't ever seem to care.

I would have parked in front of the service bays and let the truck pour black smoke inside for 30 minutes or so. It is time to write and complain to as many people as you can.

Pete's right Mike,it works too.Here's my rant...
My Dad had an 99' Eddie Bauer Ford Expo',He put three trannies in the b!tch before he sold it..anyways....We're going deer hunting in November (cold as phuck) and towing a camper and full gear...3 hours into the trip smoke starts coming out of the vents...as he's giving it gas to get on the shoulder you can hear the tranny spooling up then slipping. We pull over and "attempt" to survey the problem. We disconnect and go into town...We spot the only Ford Dealership in town and drive up....(1pm Friday) we tell them what happens and they say they can look at it in 2 hours (no promises on if they can fix it same day) Anyways they check it out and "say" the smoke was an oil leak dripping on the exhuast manifold and the oil filter was leaking and spraying back on the exhuast pipe??? that was where the smoke was coming from....as for the slipping,we were told that 99-01 Eddie trannys did that under high RPMs.Well after 5 hours of waiting and a "highly suggested" oil change we get back on the road.We double back, hook up and press on....90 mins later the motor starts peg'n out the temp gauge..200....220..280!!! in a matter of minutes then the oil pressure starts going in and out.5mins later the motor seized...We call roadside...they hook us up and go to town.......anyways the next morning a chrysler dealership checks out the truck the pan is bone dry but the plug is in!!the oil cap is missing but there is a new oil filter on.Long story short, the Ford Dealer drained the oil put a new filter on and never filled it back up.They pulled our truck off the lift quick to get "appointment" customers in that day. When we went back they had our oil cap.Weeks later the manager attempted to waive the labor cost to replace the motor and offer my dad a set of tires for the trouble.Anyways he said F that and wrote a letter to the BBB and a few months later he was reinburshed $7800 for replacing the motor.....sorry for the hijack....

So do it man.....
