Default New 1/1 tow rig

picked up a cool new toy yesterday. got a 2005 4x4 harley edition superduty with the triton v-10. WE DIDN"T WANT DIESEL

it upgraded our 2004 f-250 supercab. my dad wanted to get something that we could use for sledding and towing the boat (10,000lbs on the trailer). he didn't want to put our gear in the bed so we upgraded to the crew cab.

the trucks really nice. the thing has a fancier interior than my dads caddy and it's a dhs

cool part is it's my daily driver i have to pay gas only. (9-11mpg)

thought i'd share my excitment

the 6.0 in this area is 6-8 grand more on the used trucks. thats a hell of a lot of fill ups to make up for that price

Your gonna wish you got a diesel. More HP, More Torque, and way better milelage. My dad just got a new GMC 2500HD with the 6.0. With the mileage he's getting with it, he wishes he would've got a Duramax again. That 6 to 8 grand, you definetly get that back when you sell it or trade it in.

we had the v-10 in the other one. it had all the power to pull the 10,000lb boat up the steep gravel ramp.

Yeah i bet the v-10's have power. A friend of mine's dad has a 02 F-350 with the v-10 and when we went out west to West Yellowstone to go snowmobiling he got 6-8 mpg.

Hey, the guy's got a cool DD, there's no point in harping on him for not having a Diesel after the truck's already been purchased

Nice rig, although these days I'm more of a 'Yota man.

thankyou. the diesel didn't make since. the truck will only get about 3000-5000miles a year so the milage ain't all that important

the new yota trucks are cool but i'm a hotblooded american hillrod so....

allthough my mom is probally going to get a new fj to replace her expedition

Nice truck. From my experience with the V10 I would never buy one. When I lived in Michigan I worked at an Arctic Cat shop and the boss had a v10 SD and that thing was gutless. Our other work truck was a 95 ex Ryder 15 foot box van with a 350 in it and it would pull a ton better then the V10. For all the torque the v10 supposedly makes it felt gutless to me.

I never understood the Harley edition. You could spend the $15k mark up on real upgrades. Do you guys even own a Harley? Please tell me you do.....

no... the truck was 30 grand with 20,000miles and the only nice crew cab with a v-10 we could find. i could never see getting one new

the 04 lariat we had was 24,000 with 30,000 miles. no crew, 50 less horse power and leaf front suspension

Yeah, Ford stopped using that engine in '01 (IIRC). The newer engines should get even better mileage.

BTW, you can get a nice PSD for a lot less than the cost of that used Harley edition. I think my Dad paid 20K for his new '00 PSD.

I'm not harping on your parents for their purchase....it is a nice truck.
