The Duramax gets my vote. For a daily driver and for towing, it's the best imho. It's the smoothest and quietest, gets great fuel mileage, has power to spare (especially when chipped), and the Allison can handle all that torque and more. A newer Dodge pulled up beside me a few weeks ago and with my windows up, I had to turn up the radio to hear it over that rattle box with a stove pipe for an exhaust. I then proceeded to show him my tailgate wrapped in tire smoke.

Easy question...answer: Cummins

You take a Cummins and add a Smarty and that's all you'll need. In order to get everything out of a Smarty though in a Dodge (level 9), you will however need to do some trans upgrades. You can run up to a level 4 or 5 on that tuner though and still be fine.

I think the cummins is the best sounding engine on the road, NOTHING beats a straight piped inlne 6... The dmax is too quiet for me.

Buying a quiet diesel is like going home with a transvestite, sure it looks similar but it sure is not right.

Cummins kept the sound and still makes the power...Diesels are supposed to make noise

I have to say the Duramax when companied by the Allison Tranny. The best combo would be a Cummins with an Allison...that would be the dream rig...

It could happen...GM just sold off Allison

They still lack the rumble and rattle of the Cummins.
