That sounds right. Sparky has the S2 IS and it's 5mp.

I have a Canon 10D SLR and it's an awesome camera, but my next camera
will be an S series (probably S5-IS), if for no other reason than it's
portability (the 10D is a hoss to tote around, right Jason ?)

Yup, like I said, I shoot nothing but Canon.

After going to a SLR (had to years ago 'cause of job) I honestly have a hard time using a non-SLR now.

Carrying the larger cameras can get old, but often times taking pics is work and I'm glad I'm using the equipment I have.

The only problem with setting up a camera for high shutter speeds that the image can become grainy and "noisy".

Shooting at a slower ISO speed will reduce this. The faster your shutter speed the more "noise" you'll see in the images.

If you're shooting pictures that are intended to be used on the internet it won't pose much of a problem.

If you'd like to take the shots and have them printed the reduced quality will become more obvious the more you try to enlarge the image.

Its a really good camera. I didn't really like it myself. It took good pics I just couldn't get used to it over my old d60

I was thinking about getting one of the newer Canon Power A series cameras. Great starter cameras, full manual modes, optional lens, and at an affordable price, but I decided to get a waterproof Pentax instead.

For a point and shoot camera I'd say that Canon is decent, but if you plan on technologically growing into it[so to speak], you should invest in a real dSLR.

I just bought a Nikon D80. Very expensive, but its an amazing piece of technology. Fast, adjustable, smart. I've got zero complaints.

Bought the D80 and an 18-55mm lens, Lexar 2G 133x write speed, 52mm UV Filter, and basic case. So far I'm loving it(want more time to shoot, weather has been **** though.

Anyone have flickr's? I just registered a day or two ago. Feel free to add me.
