Default Ford mechanics, I need your help.

I have a 99 Ford Escort SE 2.0 4 banger that I need some serious help with. The AC has quit on it, and I am boggled as to what to try and fix. I know that the AC clutch is good, cause you can hook straight battery voltage to it and the Clutch will engage. There are no blown fuses that I can find. I checked the AC clutch switch on the Round canister on the firewall and it seems to be ok. You can jump out the wire and the compressor still won't come on. It has a full charge on the system, I do know that for definate. You can switch the ac on in the car and the radiator fan will come on, everything acts like it wants to work. I checked for voltage on the wires going to the compressor with a test light, I didn't have a volt meter at the time, and I get a really weak, dim light that looks like it pulses. I've bn told to check the AC relay or AC pump relay, but I have no clue as to where to look. I have torn the dash apart to se if I can find it, but really, I can't sem to find it. I've looked out on the firewall too, but nada. Can someone point me in the right direction for trying to get this sorted out? The dealer will not/cannot? tell me unless I bring it in for a 200 buck lookover. I'm really at wits end and can't afford a new car.:-(

Get a Haynes manual.

They're not the greatest, but they'll usually have wiring schematics.

Got a Haynes manual and it mentions the relay but doesn't tell where it is.

Yeah, straight wired the compressor to the battery and it engages.

But I thank yall for the ideas.

Could be this.

The constant control relay module uses a combination of relays and solid state switches to control the following systems:
The powertrain control module can interrupt A/C compressor operation through the constant control relay module under the following conditions:
  • During engine start-up
  • Wide Open Throttle (WOT)
  • Low engine idle conditions
  • Excessively high engine temperatures
