| TLT Prices going sky-high?
I've been thinking about picking up a TLT for my wife, since i already have a radio and stuff lying around, so we can run my WK and that together. I remembered that the TLT kits were selling for like 80-90 dollars. Well, now all of a sudden I look around, and the prices have shot up to like $150 to $170!!! What the? I know that Tamiya discontinued them, but have they become a Collector's Item that fast? (they didn't stop making them THAT long ago... the LHS still has four of 'em, but they jacked the prices WAAAAAAAY up.) If I was going to spend THAT kind of money I'd just get another WK.... And is there any difference between the Max Climber and the TLT? |

if they are maxclimber kits they were always alot more money than the rockbuster. which is probably what the price will be when tamiya re releases them. it was pretty common knowledge that tamiya lost big time on the price of the rockbuster

The last two cases of Busters that I ordered had the upgraded shafts. They were ordered from Ultimate, if that makes a difference.

Let's see, spend $150 for a TLT kit, throw most of it in the trash cause the axles are the only thing semi-useful, then spend another $150+ on bearings, lockers, C hubs, knuckles, and CVD's to make them strong enough to hold up on the rocks. Now you've got a $300 set of axles, no tranny, chassis, or electronics. -OR- buy a Wheely King or AX-10 -OR- If you want your own chassis / tranny / suspension, buy a set of AX-10 axles with lockers and bearings for $100 Personally I don't see why anybody would ever buy a TLT again. |
