Will that compact band saw cut metal? I looked on the Ryobl site, and it was in the woodworking tools section. I'd love to find a small saw for fabbing parts.

i have the same bandsaw and you can get the bi-metal blade for it to cut aluminum and thin steel. usually for bigger things i use my porta-band saw. the band saw is great, i use it all the time. now you gotta get a drill press if you don't have one yet. , lucky man!

i got that band saw, too. i have a really hard time cutting a stright line with mine, though.

not saying it is necessarrily the band saws fault, it could be the user, too...

i have both of those! the 4" sander is awesome! but the band saw BLOWS. it wont cut a straight line to save your life. sorry. maybe i got a bad one. i changed the blades so many times, adjusted tracking, rollers everything, nothing helps.
congrats on the awesome wife!
