I think it would help. Axials are like Moabs to much tread. I could type up a whole paragraph on why they would work better like that. But, all you really need to know is it would increase the contact pressure and form around rocks better which is good.

I cut the my front ones like that, i needed more traction on the front and less in the rear so im not going to cut the rears. Seems to help on jagged type rocks, the tire flex's more through the center after cutting as well.
