I've been using the 20D for about a year. Prior to that I used the Canon Digital Rebel. Before that was the Sony F717 Also had a few Canon 35mm film cameras. Best thing to do is to learn good technique with the camera you have. But a decent DSLR will allow you to become a better photographer. Check out the Nikon D40...it's a fairly cheap DSLR. Scour ebay for used Canon Digital Rebels. They're 6MP but still produce great shots that should suit your purposes fine. I got into photography while stationed in Hawaii. The military has several correspondence courses you can order, complete, and send in for credits. I ordered the photography courses just to get free reading materials that would teach me something that I was interested in. Kind of weird, though; I was at Indy for the Brickyard and one of the guys at Canon Professional Services specifically mentioned a shot that was in one of the recent issues of Fly RC that I had taken. He loved the shot. I didn't think it was that good, really. Just thought "that's kind of cool". I've learned that I "throw away" a bunch of shots that folks like but I think are OK. |

My current camera is only 4MP but is works pretty decent. There are a few of my shots posted here in different threads. Thank you for the information JIA! I think I will start researching NOW! | |

Still upper 90's to lower 100's, plus having practice makes it even worse.

If you are looking for an entry level DSLR theres the Canon 20D, 30D and next month the 40D's are shipping. Im shooting with a 20D right now but just placed my order in for a 40D. 10mp, live view...... Check out fredmiranda.com for some good prices on the 20D. 30D prices are going to come down since canon is coming out with the 40....... And if shooting lightning storms is your thing they make this. http://lightningtrigger.com/ works great |

I wouldn't call the 20D, 30D, and 40D "entry level" digital SLRs. The Digital Rebel, Rebel XT, and Rebel XTi, yeah. |

What do you guys of the Olympus E-volt? I have messed around with my in-laws and my parents and I love it. But then again it is the only DSLR I have even touched. My wife took a few digital photography classes at the community college so she knows how to set them up and stuff. I know costco sells the E-volt with 2 lenses and a 2GB card for 850 but I have seen them on sale there as low as 750. http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product...1&topnav=&s=1# What do you guys think? Good deal? |
