itunes question...

I just got a new dell laptop about a month ago now. I dont have itunes installed on it yet as i rarely use my ipod... So ive got around 1000 songs in my ipod, if i install itunes on my laptop and plug my ipod into it will all my songs go into the computer or will itunes clear out my ipod because the program on the computer is empty?

depends what you have the ipod settings as, if it's automatic update, it will erase your ipod, if it's manual (what i have it set as) it won't erase your songs

il post up a pic soon

EDIT: here we go, here's where you change the preferences, but you have to hook up your ipod, (Continued)

if you want to keep all your music here's what you do.
1. Uninstall Itunes, so it can't delete your songs
2. Get I-dump (here)
then download all your ipod songs to a specified folder.
3. Reinstall Itunes, import your songs, and jam on!

Or if your library is still intact on your old pc. You can just transfer it via the storage device of your choice.

It is not a cryptic hacking intensive task. It also does not involve any second party software.

My girlfriend just had to do this (a couple days ago) because I built her a new computer.

I-Dump is perfectly safe, and convienent to use. but if you download songs off your ipod that you are not autherized to play, itunes won't play it (it will ask you to autherize it) and you can't put it on your ipod, i left this out, becouse i figured it would all be yours
