PRESS RELEASE from EarthRoamer: The Jeep Rubicon Unlimited based EarthRoamer XV-JP is designed to carry two adults on technical four-wheel drive trails to remote camping locations. Once in camp, the XV-JP's Loftop™ can be deployed to provide nearly 9 feet of interior stand up height and a queen-size bed in the loft. Underneath the cantilevered loft, the rear tent can be dropped down for an additional bug free living space. The XV-JP comes equipped with 25 gallons of fresh water capacity, an inside cassette toilet, inside shower, sink and cooking facilities. Plenty of light and ventilation is provided by an abundance of screened windows. An electric fan provides additional ventilation when needed and the forced air furnace will keep you cozy on cold nights and when winter camping.
Live Your Dream!™
The best one-word description of an EarthRoamer Xpedition Vehicle is freedom. EarthRoamer XVs give you the freedom to travel confidently and comfortably anywhere you want, whenever you want, without concern for the weather or season. It's the freedom to head out on a trail in the middle of Baja to a pristine secluded beach. It's the freedom to camp safely with all the comforts of home high in the mountains - in the middle of winter!

It's the freedom to hit the road for a four-month expedition to Alaska and wake up to a different beautiful scene outside your window every morning. Fishing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, hunting, mountain biking, hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, photography, surfing, boating, racing - no matter what your passion, an EarthRoamer XV is the perfect base camp. EarthRoamer XVs provide the freedom to escape the stresses of everyday life and lets you enjoy nature in peaceful isolation. With an EarthRoamer XV you truly can live your dream!

EarthRoamer’s latest expedition vehicle, the XV-JP, has just become a reality. Based off concept drawings first shown off back in January 2007, and built off the new 4-door 2007 Jeep JK Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon, the XV-JP features an integrated camper “shell” with a roof-mounted tent with sleeping space for 2 adults and all the amenities and necessities for extended-length overland travel. Check out a photo of the roof tent deployed and some preliminary specs after the break.

Highlights:
• Electric motor-powered Loftop™ opens to provide nine feet of interior stand-up height, a kevlar rope-supported, cantilevered queen size bed, and a combination tent/screen room under the rear of the Loftop™.
• Interchangeable “skins” for the Loftop™ let you customize your rig for different weather conditions and are available in all-season, extreme cold weather, and high temperature radiant barrier designs.
• Composite sandwich construction body provides a high strength-to-weight ratio.
• 6100 btu forced air furnace, electric fan ventilation and large windows with built in screens and sunshades keep you comfortable year round.

an elegant solution to waste management – no more dragging a porta-potti through your camper!
• Ultra efficient 4 cubic foot chest refrigerator/freezer utilizes cold plate technology to keep your food and beverages cold.
• 80 watt solar panel and 210 amp-hour AGM battery bank provides power to spare.
• In-dash GPS navigation/AV system with upgraded amplifier and speakers keeps you informed and entertained.

Nice! I wonder how much that would set you back.

run2jeepn 09-17-2007 01:19 PM

Slap some 37's on it call it good... Hell even 35's would be killer. I'll see if i can get the money around and buy one before the Midwest Comp....:)

Rok_Dok 09-17-2007 01:36 PM

WheelChair 09-17-2007 01:48 PM

dezfan 09-17-2007 01:50 PM

If I had room on the Platinum card!

EeePee 09-17-2007 01:56 PM

I'll guess $40k when all's said and done.

Mad Scientist 09-17-2007 02:37 PM

I'm not really a "Jeep guy", but that's right up my alley "thumbsup"
It's nicer than a tent and a sleeping bag, but still not some huge RV.

I was at the Chrysler dealership today (PT Cruiser snapped the timing belt)

Saw the 4 door Rubis there.

What a joke! $33K and 16MPG?!

My Z71 gets better mileage than that and it'll tow a trailer.

Erin 09-17-2007 03:49 PM

My buddy Scott at Expeditions West just took one of these thru the Rubicon, and it did very well.

JasonInAugusta 09-17-2007 03:57 PM

Bender took a stock 4 door Rubi through Hell's Revenge....with a canoe strapped on top.

Of course it wasn't his.

Estimated Price of 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon $33,000
EarthRoamer Camper & Jeep Modifications $77,000

So, about $110,000....I think I'll stick with the '95 YJ 4 banger I've got..

2JSC 09-17-2007 04:59 PM

That EarthRoamer is ~$150k. There was one at the Easter Jeep Safari and thats what the rep said.

slap some 37's on it and call it home...

Can you imagine how top heavy it is?

cammok5 09-17-2007 05:16 PM

id rather have a bkazer chatlet http://www.blazerchalet.com/photos.html

gregrocks90046 09-17-2007 05:41 PM

as long as you can get it without the decals, that would be cool.

30percent 12-12-2007 07:53 AM

They are mostly BTO so customer chooses paint and options. They have them on Dodge trucks too. The Jeep thing is newer than the original roamer. I live really close to the factory, they always have a model out front parked on the rocks... Pretty cool, but the cost makes me cringe.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

No joke!

My 97TJ and a 4 person Kelty suits me just fine!

Stormin2u 12-12-2007 09:40 AM

Thats the coolest RV ever. If there was a way to get a power wheelchair in there I'd get on the waiting list today.
